Send in the Clowns
I've just seen that new Audi advert on the TV.
They've used the song "Send in the Clowns", to help suggest that the safety features fitted to the Audi help those drivers avoid all the other errant "clowns" on the road. How wonderfully ironic! "Send in the clowns...don't bother, they're already behind the wheel of the Audi".
Andrew.

That's a terrific period photo. I quite like the Audi 80, but that sporty number on the left gets my vote every time!

Re: Send in the Clowns
Coming back from Cosford last weekend I spotted a right couple of clowns dodging through traffic at speed on one of the motorways. No need to mention what they were drivingAndrew 2.8i wrote:I've just seen that new Audi advert on the TV.

Amazing, some people think because they drive a certain make of car they can do what they want and whenPeter-S wrote:Coming back from Cosford last weekend I spotted a right couple of clowns dodging through traffic at speed on one of the motorways. The drivers of modern Audi, BMW and Mercedes cars don't understand that. They are just brash and arrogant pillocks.andyd wrote:Drive an old then you have style

Re: Send in the Clowns
Cheers for the kind words gentleman but your alright about the driving standards I think it’s any car from BMW drivers to Skoda as they all want to be in front of you or on there phones .
I passed my test in 1986 and yes put my foot down then but there was less cars on the road ( sound like my dad now )
We went up to Hemel Hempstead Thursday and the lorries on the m25 just pull out on us ,they also drive in the 3rd lane a white van man was on his phone in the 3rd lane doing 50mph not aware that everybody was undertaking him .
“ back to being calm “
On topic
Audi I do like the R8 as they look good and sound good .

Makes me mad when drivers think they are above the law
If we see them, I'm sure the Police can find them too

Funny you should say that, did a round trip to Manchester this weekend (took my daughter to a concert), a trip of 5 hours driving each way for us due to roadworks. Didn't see a single police car on the motorways. Donut sales must be up this monthJasonmarie wrote: Must say you never see a police car now adays

They saw you though. Big Brother is watching you every inch of your trip with his cctv cameras which keeps him in the dry and cost him much less than a fully equipped (and staffed) X5 patrol car.Caprifan Rob wrote:Funny you should say that, did a round trip to Manchester this weekend (took my daughter to a concert), a trip of 5 hours driving each way for us due to roadworks. Re: Send in the Clowns
Hi,
Yes, CCTV has been set up everywhere with the intention of catching motorists and the occasional mugger, but it's no substitute for actual Policemen. For a start, a marked Police car is a visible deterrent and driving standards drastically improve when there is a copper around...
However, as Paul says, it's much easier and cheaper to issue fines automatically.
Andrew.
