Sorry if I went a bit over the top with the pics chaps but just wanted to show them from different angles :)

Would have been disappointed if you hadn't ;) Wheels look right at home on your stunning Capri Nick, definitely the right way to go. MOT was always going to go your way too, enjoy :applaud:

If any proof that lowering would make the combination even better, this is it! Very Nice.

Had a great day today. B112 passed mot and I finally fitted the new 7x15" wheels ! I am really really happy with them. They look very nice indeed !! After fitting all four I was really pleased with how they looked. They really have more presence about them indeed which the pics might show but even better in the flesh !! Lovely wheels and with the Yokohama 195 50 15 tyres they do look as good as I was hoping they would...phew

As I have now finally treated myself to these wheels now is also the perfect time to get B112 set up just as I have wanted for a while so I will very likely lower by 1.5 or 2" at the rear then see about the front afterwards when I see how it looks. Even without lowering the Capri these 15" wheels really do look very nice and have made an instant impact. I love em !!!!

Hi Nick,
The wheels look great on your car, you've made a good choice IMO :D And I fully agree with you that it now needs lowering a bit. Not a silly amount that will make it worse to drive but just a sensible ride height.
One of the first jobs I did on my Capri was to fit lowered springs on the front. I spoke to the Guys at Tickover for advise and went for their 1 inch lower 145 lb springs. I wasn't disappointed the original springs were worn out, so the ride height wasn't really effected, but the extra strength in the springs made an improvement to the handling without compromising the ride quality :) I think the 2.8 Capri is 1 inch lower than a Laser so you might want to think about lowering yours by 2 inches.... Check with Tickover I might be wrong!
Then when I put new leaf springs on the back of mine it raised the back to about the same height as yours. I needed to drop the back by 2 inches to get it back to where it was when I had old saggy springs on the back. So I'd suggest 2 inch blocks would be what you need.

Heres a photo of my car to show you how it would sit. Hard to see on a black car, but the rear sits with a small gap between the tyre and the arch. The front tyres sit just up inside the arch however it doesn't rub when you turn corners. I like the car to sit slightly lower at the front. When I see them dragging down at the back, it makes me wonder how many bags of cement have they got in their boot

Image

Did they do your new wheels in other colours? I'm not sure black wheels would work on a black car :?

All the best

Hi Neil.

Mate thank you very much for your very informative reply. Very much appreciated and very helpful. A couple of people now have advised exactly what you have said -2" at the rear and -1" at front. Hearing what you have said and done abd looking at the photo of your capri has cemented my plans to deffo drop B112. Your stunning Injection is exactly the look I want to achieve with the 15" wheels Neil. It really looks spot on mate. If I can get mine sitting like yours I will be happy. Smoke Em Dave also mention 145lb springs at front too so i will go with this. Would get tickover to do this.

Neil its amazing the impact these 15's have instantly made to the look, stance and drive of my capri. I am well chuffed with them. Thanks again for your advice Neil.

Re the colour they only do the 7x15' in the machined/highlighted black finish but I have to disagree with you mate as these look absolutely stunning on black capris. If you are unsure hiw it would look you can hold fire and we can fit one of mine on yours at The Ace to see what you think of them. I reckon you will love em !!!

Cheers Neil

All the best mate

Hi Andy,

I love the 15x7 wheels mate. Especially with all the suspension work done. B112 sits lovely, has a lovely stance and drives and handles very well. They were one of the best purchases I made fella but having all the other suspension/steering work done really compliments them. They are not to everyones liking but I love em ! :)

Going by local prices you should get yours refurbed for about £280

I still have 4 of these! Free of charge and ideal for storage.

Hey Andy. We are coming down your way... Ish.! We have booked up a really nice apartment in Charlestown near St Austell, Cornwall for a week fromJuly 6th. If it were Devon and any nearer I would have popped in to see you for some cream teas....with the cream on the top.!! :)
And I could have picked up those whees you very kindly offered for Jason at the same time. But the thought of telling Mrs F she could only take a wash bag for the week to make room for the wheels maybe it's for the best.!!!

I like the car on 15" but nothing more. In case you wondered why the problem is that wheearches are designed to radius around a wheel. The Capri was obviously drawn in the era of tiddly 13" wheels and the 15% RS-style seven-spokes look comically large and wonderful - but nothing bigger in diameter as the visual aspect all wrong. I used to look in horror at the 90s tendency to add 16" wheels and all sorts to Capris and Sierras. The trouble was that sidewall compliance of the tyres wasn't up to the task. My wife's Focus has 17" wheels which look fab but drive terribly and she wrecks one tyre every 10 months or so because of our local roads.

So.... tyres have moved on and you can have tolerable ride and handling on 15" but don't go bigger!

:agree: 15s are plenty big enough on a Capri

As much as I like Pepperpots, the price of tyres is too high and I can get 15 inch for the same if not cheaper.

I will keep the Pepperpots for originality and one day might put them back on if/when a sensible priced tyre becomes available.
