mot today

Post by Fordoholic Nick »

Hi chaps,

Great news, B112 passed mot today no advisory...phew !! :)

Only thing is I don't think much of the new style mot certificate. Its crap !! It looks more like a receipt than an actual mot but the main thing of course is B112 has the ticket...I just wish they gave you a nicer document ! I had a thought earlier. I would be happy to pay an extra £5 to dvla if they offered a Classic Car MOT Cert based on the original style one we used to get. What do you guys think ? It would be a nice addition to the history file rather than this new 'receipt' mot. Just a thought !

All the best

Nick

Hi Nick,
Nice one! Although the MOT pass was a foregone conclusion with a car that's as meticulously maintained as yours is.
One more observation.....that garage looks as clean as your engine bay! I love that vintage petrol pump that they have there, that's a nice feature. Although the best thing about that garage/test station is that rather stunning lacquer red beauty parked in it! :D

The new style certificate must be very recently introduced, as I was issued an old style one just last month.

Andrew.

Car looks great, and the 15s will be the icing on the cake :D

I think they will always be changing/messing with these sorts of documents

Cheers Andy. Thanks mate !

Andy I have fitted the 15's this afternoon and they look bleedin lovely !! I am waiting for pics to upload onto my flickr then I will post them up, The 15's really do make a difference compared to the 13's and still being 4-spokes they are my personal dream wheels

I reckon the mot will go paperless within the next 2/3 yrs just as the tax disc has gone. The old bill have instant access to check mot/tax/insurance so can see them doing this What a shame as collecting tax discs and mot's was part of the fun of adding to your cars history folder :(

All the best

Hurrah! Lucky no rain today!

Nick I believe that the MoT "certificate" we get now has in itself no legal standing. The thing that matters is the record on the DVLC central computer, the printout merely being a confirmation of that.

Cheers Tom. It started raining just as I was parking B112 back into garage after mot...just got inside in time. Was only a shower tho

What you say makes perfect sense re the mot cert mate as it really does just look like a printout confirmation. What a shame its come to this but we do live in a world where computers are taking over...

All the best Tom

Thanks Jason, much appreciated.

My mot guy has had that mirror there for years...but he still had to get me to depress the brake pedal for him. Last year he let me help him do the brake test on the rolling road

The 15's are fitted fella !!! This afternoon mate. Took for a spin and drives very well too, very well indeed ! And they look rather nice too :D

Have been waiting for them to upload onto flickr and they just have so will post up a new thread mate. I really do like the new wheels Jason. Very pleased I decided to go for them. Cheers mate,

That's a spotless test centre that is, you could go there for lunch.

And love that Esso pump.

Good news for your MOT Nick :)

Cheers Paul. Mate its a very clean test centre indeed. Even the garage linked to it is very clean. Ross who owns it had it passed down from his dad so its a great family run business. They always love seeing the Capri ! In fact the mot tester Dave was actually eating his lunch...honest mate

Cheers Paul :)

Congrats Jason! As said, the MOT pass was never in doubt with a car that's as well maintained as yours.

Yes I am so pleased as I hate the MOT time I asked if anything really needs looking at and Tickover said it was all fine . Also the new bumper overider is on the car and looks great . Yes you can see it’s new but I put some autoglym rubber and what ever it’s called on and it match’s with the other one .
Drove down to its winter sleeping place and she really was a pleasure to drive .

Dan you must win most miles and you have two ..... think Nick is going to win the least amount

I agree, but it's difficult having the time and getting good weather on the same day. It always seems to be one or the other!
Thanks for your comment about my car, but mine's not a patch on your stunning Laser.

Andrew.
