Will the 15” wheels make the speedo out a small bit ? As Iam sure it will take the speedo down a very small amount .
But can’t wait to see the new boots on the car .

He's going from a 60 to 50 profile, so speedo will be accurate.

Seriously mate I was only just talking with John about possibly lowering B112 so it sits real nice on the 15" wheels as believe it or not I still have some room in the arches even though the 15" are deffo bigger than the 13...

Slight deception as the surface has a slight slope from left to right but you can clearly see the difference between 15" and 13"
Image2018-04-18_06-41-00 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

The 195 tyres look so much better than the 185 I had fitted on the 13's of the same width 7"...fill the rim really nice and the 50 profile is spot on too !
Image2018-04-18_06-32-09 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

Soooo, back to the lowering 'mod' I am now considering. I am 99% sure the previous owner fitted brand new rear springs as B112 has always sat pretty high compared to a lot of other Capris and as the front springs are in very good nick too I reckon he had those done too so even with the 7x15 tyres there is still room for further tweaking !! But I will only be able to see the whole picture when I fit all four and get it out of the garage on a level surface...but fitting just one it looks lovely indeed...

Image2018-04-18_06-31-22 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

John has said we can easily drop the rear with lowering blocks and see how that looks then if need be the front can come down too with new shorter springs. I had wanted get work done on the suspension at some stage so this might be the time to do it ! The one thing that always niggled away at me was that the 13's even with a 60 profile looked a tad lost in the arches and 70 profile to me makes the rims look a bit lost in the tyre  Just my personal opinion. So the 195 with a 50 profile looks so spot on that I don't want to mess with this so lowering is the way to go...but as said will wait till I fit all four of the beauties to really see the proper effect !

So yes Dave....I feel I do have a 'bug' coming on mate...that is trying to draw me into the dark world of modding !!! Mind you I have already upgraded the exhaust with the 4-2-1 Sportex and got the k+n air filter, got the Aldon Ign Kit fitted too, got the recaro fishnets which were already in B112 and now have the delightful 7x15 machined 4-spokes :) My previous Laser was as original as they came and I really loved everything about it just as much as I now love the way B112 has changed with the tweaks since I have owned it. It certainly always puts the biggest :D on my face as I am sure everyone's does !

Thing is you are so right mate...once you go down a certain route its so easy to not want to turn back and go back home again  I have mentioned those famous scary words to John a few times now that always brings a smile to his face..." weber 45's"...always gets him !!!!

I have always loved seeing what mods owners have done to their Capris just as much as I love seeing the original ones too that look great. I might tie a long bit of rope around my waist so if I venture too far into the dark world of moddin John can pull me back !! Thing is hearing the tales of the sort of power he used to get from his Pinto's :o I have a hunch he might drop the rope

Yep I deffo knocked out my speedo when I went to from 185 70 13 to 185 60 13 tyres so with these 195 50 15 just as Andy has said and John mentioned to me also the speedo should hopefully be getting towards more accuracy than other way...I will let you know chaps ! As it stands now I am up to 8mph out depending on speed meaning if the speedo reads 50 its more like 42/44mph I am doing as John found out when I was leading a convoy through 50mph road works to his humour !! I was wondering why everyone else was "speeding" !!! The great thing is I wont get done by speed cameras  Lower speeds its not out by much but I have got used to it. if it becomes more accurate it will bleedin confuse me

Think you have answer my question as when I am doing 30mph everybody seems to want to go faster as I have the 2.8 wheels on mine . What I think has 205-60-13 .
Also nick let me know how the car handles and is parking up any easier. Only ask as I have been looking at power steering .

They do look nice .

Yep my speedo from memory was pretty spot on when I first bought B112 with the original 6x13's with I recall 185 70 13 so when I fitted the 7x13's with 185 60 I did notice a difference indeed !! Now I am on 7x15's with 195 50 it will be very interesting to see how it goes. I am presuming with the wider tyres that parking up in tight spots ( which I rarely do ) could prove a tad tougher without the power steering mate. I am lucky my garage block pretty wide so I can get a good reverse swing into it without shunting it. I really like the look of wider tyres so if its a tad harder parking up I can live with but yep you should consider power steering Jason. Have heard its not difficult to fit and would make a big difference. The chaps beside you at tickover would do that no prob. If you do get it done let us know the difference it really makes. Cheers fella

Ps. JBW also do these 4-spokes in 8x15 too  but with the mods to fit these I think I shall stick with the 7x15's !!

The narrower the tyre the easier the steering is at low speeds. One of the first things I did on my car was change the tyres back to standard 185's. It made a very noticeable difference, from being a right pain to park up to having no worries about that now at all.

Hi Nick,
According to Willtheyfit.com, there should be a 4.13% difference in speedo reading between your old and new set up.
https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?w ... offset2=40
So, using your example of the old wheels with the speedo reading 50MPH and the car actually doing 44MPH, on the new set up you should be going around 46MPH. That brings the speedo to within 10% accuracy, which is within legal tolerances, and should be enough to please John when you are leading a convoy! :)

If you compare your new wheels/tyres with the originals, the rolling radius is close, but the speedo will read 2.29 less than they would have on the original spec tyres.
https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?w ... offset2=40

I hope that helps, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Check the accuracy of the speedo against GPS and please let us know how it goes. Whatever happens, on your new wheels you'll look great as you are doing it!

Hi Andrew.

Thanks for the info fella. Yep as soon as I fit the new wheels I will check the speedo against a satnav and report back. Really looking forward to fitting them when we get back from our mini break to see how they look. I might lower B112 too but will decide after seeing them fitted. Either way the 15's with the 195's should look real good... :D

All the best mate

Good choice Nick..... I was thinking of getting these wheels for mine in the future if my 13" tyres get close to wearing out.

I'll be interested to hear how you feel it drives after changing them over. I was a little concerned that it would firm the ride up too much with the lower profile, however the better choice of tyres would probably go towards compensating for that.

I very much doubt you will see me at the Classic Ford show this year mate. Have had a lot going on over the past 2yrs or so on a personal level that means I will probably only make one pod visit this year. That 'Was' going to be the doorslammers meet but now that my friends 7sec Escort isn't going to be ready, I have changed my mind and opted for the Mopar Nationals instead. (My Pal Chris is going to debut his blown alky Dodge Viper at this years Mopar nats)
Since my job change, I haven't really been involved with the Ford 'Scene' and only check in here because it will always feel like home.

Have you fitted them rims yet???

I did consider getting the 15” 7 spokes for mine but it’ll take away the originality of it. Still tempted if they come up though!

Forum would not be the same without you especially when i move onto 'advanced modding' I will be requiring some back up mate

Dave I just got back tonight from a six day break...3 in Peak District and 3 in West Yorks and Mrs Fordoholic has plans for me tomorro so as I have B112 booked in for its well overdue mot on thurs morning I will fit the new rims afterwards mate :)

Hi Neil,

Thanks mate. I will let you know how it drives after fitting them. Yep they are pretty decent tyres so hopefully should be a good combo and look good too. Parking up in tight spots might be a tad harder with the extra width but I can live with this. One thing I might do is lower B122 but will see how it sits first when I have all four fitted on thurs. My car has always sat pretty high so even with these 15's I might still lower it to give a better stance/appearance that I want.

These 7×15's really do look nice in the 4-spokes Neil. I was thinking about them for a while. JBW do some stunning wheels mate. Saw them hanging on the wall at their office but for me it was always going to be 4-spokes :)

Thanks again and hope to see you soon mate

I think you will end up using 145lb -1" or 2" coils up front (Use rally design as much cheaper than Burtons) and -1.5" rear blocks. This will make it sit 'Just right' once new springs have settled. Then you need more POWER!!!!!!!!!!

Its just one of those things that has niggled me a tad for a long time Peter. Most Capri's I see all have a nicer 'stance' over the wheels than mine so now I have invested in these lovely 15's I really want to set up B112 exactly how I want it to sit. Then I can tick it off the list at last and move onto the next job....opps!....I feel Dave might jump in here
