But yes it’s good fun to watch of what not to do

Hope it don't throw up too many issues for them. The carpet might need dying though

They did a Volvo 480ES in last weeks episode, but curious as they didn't mention or put a new MOT on it I checked the reg number K160HAU, and there is no record of the car and not recorded with tax either!
All I can assume is it's had a plate change since

I have to admit that I've lost interest in all these car shows. They each seem to follow the same formula year in year out and most centre around some gobby egotistical presenter rather than the restoration work. I have no interest whatsoever in customised vehicles so that rules out many of the American shows for me and I'm just plain bored with the rest.
I admit that I haven't seen Flipping Bangers but I can guess what it's like as I used to "flip bangers" myself many many years ago; back in the days when a MK1 Escort with a year's MOT was worth £250 if you were lucky. I'm afraid that I find "The Bridge" that is on BBC2 at the same time far more entertaining these days.

Funny that, yes.
I too thought, are you not going to MOT it? When they took it for a blast after finishing it......

Also hard to believe the guy they bought it from didn't know why it was a non runner as he deals in Volvos.....Easy enough fix
Good job it wasn't the cambelt as that wasn't mentioned at all, and did they really change the oil without replacing the filter
Nice blokes but for the sake of a bit more money do it right surely

Hi Andy,
Your right, there is no record of it on the DVLA website, however, on Cazana, it shows that it's been for an MOT and Tax somewhere between when it was listed for sale in September 2017 and the current date. I've noticed that Cazana is much slower to update than the government sites, so I would assume that the plate change is fairly recent and Cazana is slightly out of date.
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,
Just looked on that site and mileage discrepancy, May 2010 @ 77,867 miles. September 2017 @ 69,252 miles

Well spotted!
It looks as though Gus and Will carried out their usual thorough due diligence checks before buying!

I noticed that too. Gus seemed more concerned with the oil looking clean in case the prospective buyer checked it. Which is more than Gus and Will did when they bought it......…
Which reminds me, when they go to buy a car that's been stood up for a while, they never seem to even check the fluids or anything before turning it over.

They seem to have made their minds up they are buying the cars before looking at them.
I suspect someone with mechanical knowledge has already checked the cars over before filming, hence they don't bother

100%
But as Paul G said, most car shows turn out the same if you read too much into them (Which if you are a car fan, you can't help but be inquisitive).

It's interesting that you don't believe that Gus and Will thoroughly check the cars over before filming.....

Here’s a turn up for the books as it looks like Paul who worked with Edd China on wheeler dealers did most of the work with Will & Guss on flipping bangers .
Just take a look at this car on eBay and read the letter from the tv company .

I have read on t'interweb that some of the production crew involved in the early WD episodes are also behind flipping bangers, hence the similarity between the two shows.
The claim that Paul Brackley works on the cars behind the scenes is further evidence that Gus and Will are not running a proper business.
Paul is underrated, in my opinion. He doesn't get all the credit he deserves for his work on WD and also Flipping bangers.

Just watching the Mazda episode, and what's parked outside the workshop? Only the Alfa that was scrapped in a previous episode! They must film several episodes simultaneously, just like Car SOS. Interestingly, there was also a yellow Mercedes Sprinter parked outside the workshop too. I thought it looked familiar...…
