my previous Capri
Was going through some things and found this other picture of my previous Capri. 2.0 Laser
Was a great car !! Was my daily use and went everywhere with us. Always got the attention it deserved but I know its no longer on the road now so don't really wanna think what might have happened to it

Re: my previous Capri
How long ago was that? 10 years?
I had a previous Capri, and I know what happened to that because I sold it to a close family member, who er, did scrap it unfortunately!

Mate it was about 10yrs ago. I had a rough idea what the new owner sort of wanted to do. He had another Mk3 that he wanted to use as a donor for a better shell. He seen mine and said he would keep it and restore it but that was the last I seen or heard of it. I am guessing he changed his mind and stripped D112 of all the good bits and then scrapped it
All the best mate

Is D112 yet another Capri you have previously owned?
What a sad ending for what looks like a really nice car in the photo. But then 10 years ago the Capri was not as well thought of as they are these days.

Yep D665 was a decent Capri Andrew but did have some issues but it certainly did not deserve to be withdrawn from existence. At the time I had just acquired BAAT...sorry I meant B112 and I also had R818, the Escort GTi too. Mrs F did drive D665 a few times but found the steering and long bonnet a bit worrying so I kept R818, the GTi as daily use and sold D665 so I could focus on B112. At one stage the neighbours thought I was a private Ford Dealer when I had D665, B112 and R818 outside our previous home. Rented a garage for B112 pretty sharpish to get it off the road. R818 then was sold and now its EN57 Fiesta Diesel that's our daily runner with B112 in the garage that came with the flat we are in now. I really miss D665 and R818. While we are on the subject I also miss KGC my 1.3 Mk2 Escort. This was my first car and was a cracker !
I bet you are glad you asked me now aint you Andrew...but I will be happy to run through it with you again next time we meet up fella
All the best mate
Nick

What else would they expect with a Fordoholic as a neighbour?

Re: my previous Capri
That looks really nice. I'm curious, is it a coincidence that it is the same colour as your current car, or did you search for one in that colour?Jasonmarie wrote:I had to send my son in to the loft and I found a picture of my old mercury grey Capri

Re: my previous Capri
I did search for a Capri from about 2014 and was not fussed about colour to start with but after looking at some right bad cars . I started looking at blues and orange , I almost bought a nimbus grey 2.8i but i found out that it was cat d I think and there was no history also the engine sounded all wrong so I passed on that one . Then just threw word of mouth a man who had a car collection was selling one of his Capris , he was 80 and I think his wife told him to give up on some of his toys . When I got to his house and was looking I could not believe my luck and it was 1 mile from my parents house and where I was born and went to school . Also it was Mercury Grey and Mint , I thought really look around first and don’t smile I had my oldest Son with me who went under the car and we could not find any faults also all the History from day one was there all the mot & tax disks so it ticked all my OCD boxes .
So they say a car comes to you and this was it , I was one lucky sod as if you asked what Color do you want I would say mercury grey .
Sorry Nick I have stolen your post but it’s been great looking at some old pictures today at home .
Also talking OCD I did notice nick your picture is around the wrong way ........

That colour really suits the Mk4.Jasonmarie wrote:Yes my mum bought it new in 1990 I had it in 1995 for the wife . We really were a mercury grey family .
I thought it was a later one due to the lattice wheels. The Mk4 hardtop is quite rare now, mostly Cabriolets......
