Re: Stolen!
Oh no, not another one.
I hope that the car is found quickly and returned to it's rightful owner without damage.
Incidentally, I think the Mk2 looks particularly good in Daytona yellow.

A good time to check/update your cars security and make sure you have the correct Insurance agreed valuation.Andrew 2.8i wrote:Oh no, not another one.

Re: Stolen!
Better to be safe than sorry in terms of security. Although, the fear of theft would never be enough that it stops me using and enjoying the Capri.andyd wrote:A good time to check/update your cars security and make sure you have the correct Insurance agreed valuation.

Buying time is the main thing.....But if they want it badly enough they will get it whatever you try to protect it.Andrew 2.8i wrote:Better to be safe than sorry in terms of security. Re: Stolen!
Shame, and it's very sad for the owner, and I do hope it is found.
I always wish though, with things like this, that we find out how it happened, what process they used and/or what they broke or removed to take it. Would be so helpful for others as regards to security.

And I hope it was in a garage at least

Re: Stolen!
That is one of my worries I do have a Immobiliser Also last year I got a steering lock that you guys recommended .
But lastyear I heard they almost have the cars away to order and go to car shows and use trackers . I think if not right andrew has a gadget to let you know if somebody has put one on your car .
Sorry I also use a picture of my mother in law on the front screen as that must scare them . I know it does me

Disklok is a good visual deterrent, and Immobilizer will possibly cause them a headache.Jasonmarie wrote:That is one of my worries I do have a Immobiliser Also last year I got a steering lock that you guys recommended .

Tracking devices being put on cars at shows/events is a bit of a worry, and I remember someone mentioned a device for finding if one had been put on your car.
Hope the Mother in Law picture helps....Maybe in person would be better

Re: Stolen!
Has anybody on here actually had a tracker placed on their car, or even know somebody who it has happened to?

Re: Stolen!
It's interesting to note that, as mentioned in that news story, the recommendation is to use a Disklok, even on a modern high end vehicle.
Re: Stolen!
White Sierra XR4i B588GNT, stolen Birmingham area last night.
Please keep an eye open, it's been shared around so hopefully it will be found soon and safe.

Re: Stolen!
You can purchase your own transportation tracker with simple software for your phone, i seen it in action and you could see on the map where the location is and GPS co ordinates. It costs a couple hundred quid, and has an alert feature to message your phone if it is moving. As i say it might seem expensive, but if the worst did come true, it would be invaluable for police to get your car. I can't remember the name of it, but it's one tool also worth considering, and the disc lock.

There are handheld devices which will alert you if someone has put a tracking device on your car which is what I'm interested in.Hooks wrote:You can purchase your own transportation tracker with simple software for your phone, i seen it in action and you could see on the map where the location is and GPS co ordinates. You walk around your car and it will alert you if a device is found (?)
As my car is only used for shows that would be my main concern
Got a Disklok already
Re: Stolen!
A mate has just ordered one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GPS-TRAC ... rmvSB=true Cheaper options also avaliable.
He emailed the seller telling them what he wanted it for and here is their reply;
"Hi,
Yes this would be perfect for detecting tracking devices and any other wireless radio activity nearby. It is very simple and straightforward to use. For your purpose all you need to do is sit in the car, switch on detector, set sensitivity and it is ready to detect. You can get out of car and scan over vehicle and continue doing this until signal is detected.
It can be difficult because trackers are not always active. Some can be in sleep mode where it is only live when user wants to track. Others programmed or timed to go off periodically and others are movement or sound activated. No matter what type of tracker device used the G318 will detect it instantly when active."
So if my mate confirms all good when he receives it, I will be getting one too.
