Hope everyone is ok...

Post by Fordoholic Nick »

Hi all,

I hope everyone is keeping ok following this terrible weather we have all been getting battered with and with more to follow too ! I know there are members here from all over so as title says I hope everyone is keeping safe and well. When you see Red weather warnings being posted its pretty serious stuff..."danger to life" !! I see that the North East had one and indeed a new Red warning for the South West and South Wales has just been issued for the next 10/12hrs or so. Hope you chaps don't get hit too hard. Its been pretty shit in London last couple of days. I been walking my daily 3.8miles walk down to work at 03.30am and it aint been too pleasant... albeit it looking very 'picture postcode' it felt anything but. The chaps in the Bus Garage think I am a crazy fool for walking at the best of times let alone in this weather but I would miss my walk too much.

Anyway chaps, as said hope you are all ok and to those in the South West and Wales over the next 24hrs I hope its not as bad as they are predicting for you. The media do love these 'super storm' and 'beast from the east' headlines dont they but its no joking matter if its as bad as they say !

All the best now

Nick

It's ok to say don't go out unless you have to, but why are the main roads such a mess when gritted in advance :headscratch:

Hard to believe I will be taxing the Sierra in a month

I second everyone else's comments. Haven't seen snow like this for a long time.

I had planned to meet a friend in Norfolk at the weekend thinking that with it being spring it would be a good moment for the first decent run in the Capri. Needless to say such thoughts have been put on hold!

The metric system will never fully take over Andy. For example, if you ask someone how tall they are then you might get five foot nine. They wouldn't say 1752.6mm. And how far is it to the bank, about two miles. You wouldn't hear 3.21 kilometers!

I'm just offering a pound of flesh, that's all :)

And I reckon that, when they hear that, most of the population are thinking 'now how much is that in inches' :D

Metric measurements, in a lot of instances, just don't have that same memorable 'feel' to it, as imperial does. Which is why, even though the UK went metric in 1965 (and to be in completion by 1975), we still have a mixture of the two. We just couldn't go the whole nine yards :)

I can picture yards, feet and inches, but metric takes a while or I just give up :deadhorse:

I've just been watching the news and there appears to be lots of chaos everywhere. Luckily for us, we've had hardly any snowfall here.
By tomorrow the country will probably be back to normal anyway.

A mate in South Wales has had it bad too.

ITV news already mentioned a chance of flooding when the thaw starts
