Uninvited guest

Decided to start up the 2.8 this weekend. The battery wasn't too lively so I pooped the bonnet to put it on charge and it seems some local wild life has been using the engine bay as a food store. Don't seem to have nibbled on anything else fortunately!

My nextdoor neighbour has a good collection of cars and he parks a few on the farm behind our houses and the rats or rat had a go at his GT3 Porsche 911 only 8 months old and eat away at the levering Hydraulics so he can raise the car for speed humps .
Cost was £6000 to put right and he had to claim of his insurance .

There’s more rat and mice catchers up there now the barn owls have not been seen .

 Interesting! :)

I bet the squirrel using your car as a store was driving you "nuts". Sorry, somebody had to be first to say it!

Andrew.

My car had a mouse visit during its 16 year storage with the second owner.
It chewed the rear seat which I had repaired and nibbled the parcel shelf which I have disguised slightly with grey paint.

A bowl of poison now sits in my garage :)

You need to get a cat. I've just spent half an hour chasing a bloody mouse round our kitchen that the little sod brought in. That's my excercise for the day!

I'd gladly pay good money to watch that Paul!

My GL looked like it had a whole family of mice living in it at some point! Took the rear bench off and there was a lot of padding that had been eaten up and moved to the rear area of the bench, along with a couple of nibbled tax discs all shaped into a small nest!

I use this type. Don't use bait, that can actually attract them and you don't want that. They just go in through instinct. If you find them quick enough you can let them out somewhere, but they are usually goners quite quickly, due to stress. Caught loads.

To get rid of mice, instant mashed potato works a treat...

Do they move out because they only like proper mash?

I wouldn't blame them if they did!

They're quite keen on it, as it happens. Unfortunately, for the little blighters, it quickly expands in their stomachs, killing them.

Andrew.

You need to be very careful if you kill/poison them, a lot of the time they don't die there and then, they crawl off behind a cupboard or whatever and die there. And will quickly stink the place out (dead mice really smell!) and you will spend an age trying to find it. Much better to trap them (humanely if possible) instead.
