Post by Andrew 2.8i »

Morning All,
I hope everybody had a great Christmas!
Did anybody receive any nice Capri (or car) related presents?

I saw that advertised in the club magazine and am tempted to buy it. Have you had a chance to flick through it yet, and does it look any good?

Yes had a quick look and I like it, great examples featured, my favourite so far is the late great Jack Sears 3000E; in Evergreen with olive green interior!

For me it’s worth having as I want to gain more knowledge and can refer to it from time to time, so far seen pics of engines, interiors and even original keys etc.

Ideally would like to own a mk1 but it seems to be a forbidden fruit, apart from sitting in a 1.6XL, never been in one (and only driven mk3s) and it’s become an itch now!

The leaflet that came with it has a broad range of cars including Aston Martins in this series.

What a pleasant surprise gift..... :)

You won't be disappointed! As you know, I've been using it for a little while and, for me, seems to work really well.

Hi chaps,

Just as Andrew has said I hope you all had a great Christmas Day too :)

Andrew I did get a Capri related gift fella and believe it or not did not involve HFVP  . Apologies in advance mate for the long winded reply but hope you can see why I have :)

A while back Paul ( pbar ) had posted up a very helpful thread on a supplier of tailored car mats he had seen for himself in the flesh at a show...
( viewtopic.php?f=10&t=51607&hilit=car+mats ) I always trust Paul whenever he gives us a heads up on products and these mats sounded really good. No pics had actually been posted but as Paul had seen samples at a show and commented on the very good quality of them and great value I decided these were the mats for me ! My parents said they would get them for me for Christmas :D

Chaps they really are superb mats just as Paul had said there were.

I am now home from Yorkshire so have taken some pics of them. This is them...

First up is the Luxury tufted carpet set in Grey with Grey edging

Now the set of 4 rubber tailored mats which really are lovely imo !

Guys I am not posting up these pics just to show off   but more to show you all the superb quality/value they are. I recall someone said if pics of these were posted it would help so here they are. I ordered them myself and had them sent direct to my parents so I would not see them till Christmas day. I was not disappointed one bit. Just as Paul had reported they really are lovely mats at very very reasonable prices.

I bought the luxury carpet ( tufted deep pile ) set of 4 mats which are supplied in Black or Grey with a choice of edging trim colours. As you can see I went for the Grey Carpet with Grey edging which really looks great in the flesh ! Price delivered was £30 Brilliant value imo

He also does a standard carpet set of 4 mats in Grey, Black, Red or Blue again with a choice of edging. Price delivered £20

I also treated myself to a set of his rubber mats which are exceptional value at £20 delivered. Not only is the quality extremely good but the tailored fit is a brilliant bonus. Very hard to get tailored rubber mats so when I seen how nice they actually are I was over the moon.

If anyone is interested just give Mark ( Marks Mats ) a ring on 07707 570414. He is a really decent chap and really helpful. He actually dropped off my mats to my parents in person as he lives not too far from them in Yorkshire and he was kind enough to offer them a bit cheaper to me to save the postage. A very nice touch I thought as he could have charged me the delivered price anyway but the personal service was superb !

If you are on facebook you can also get him on Mark Dobson or Mark Dobson Car Mats. Message him and he will get back to you same day. He prefers facebook as orders are written down so no errors but he will take orders over the phone as he works from home.

Anyway sorry to turn this into a long winded reply to Andrews simple question on Christmas gifts but I just thought I would post pics/details for anyone else interested in getting some. I promised Mark I would recommend them as I was so impressed with his service.

Any other info you want on these just ask.

All the best chaps

Nick

PS. Prices were those quoted to me when I ordered them and should still be accurate but please don't quote me on these :)

I wish I hadn't asked now......
Just joking! Thanks for posting the photos of your mats. You're right, they do look like a good quality product, and the carpeted ones have got the heel pad for the driver's side which is essential for longevity.

Did you get those slippers for Christmas too, Nick? :)

Hi Rob,
Those old brochures are a great read, and I love that they mention a load of features that we all took for granted a long time ago!
The last brochure I bought describes the Capri as "A champion that looks superb from every angle". Couldn't have put it better myself! :D
