I just thrashed the new GT86...

..on the way back from Harrogate with my old man. Not bad. All top end though, it's weird, needs more more useable grunt then it would be much better. Such a massive power band... from 900 -7500 rpm I think. Too wide really..quite sedate at low revs and when it produces properly good torque you're nearly out of the useable range. I'd move it to 2500 or 3000 - 7500.. bet you could cram in loads more power that way from mid range up.

But then I get about 15mpg from my Capri that's tuned like that so it's all a tradeoff.. we were getting 35mpg in the GT86. Ahhh.. I remember those lazy days...

35 average from Harrogate to Cambridge that is! Was too busy looking at the road when thrashing it to look.

It was only a month ago that you drove the car for the first time, now you're already thrashing it! :D

I'd rather have the old AE86.

There's a rare unmolested example on Ebay at the moment, but at £30K it's more expensive than a new GT86.....
