Shiny and new!
Whilst the 2.0 was having it's summer break I took the carb off as it had been getting a bit touchy last year. I stripped it, cleaned it, checked the jetting and put it all back together. It certainly improved the drive but only once the car was warm. It's been spluttery when cold and also idling much too fast unless I leaned the mixture but then it would run poorly anyway. So after a little contemplation I decided the old girl could have an early Christmas present an bought a new one. Now idling sensibly with decent mixture setting, seems to have done the trick

Nice one Peter. Great job. Glad its all running good now and looking great too !! I would love to see your 2.0 mate. Seen the 2.8 a few times ( ) but not your Pinto. Looks a very tidy well looked after engine does that sir !

You can't beat the feeling of satisfaction after fitting shiny and new parts!

Is that a DGAS rather than a DGAV carb? Just noticed the twin flap opening gears and the mixture screw in the carb base.
Does it make the pinto run better?

Yes Paul it is a DGAS. I originally had one because I put a mild cam in the pinto at one point. The cam has gone but I liked the carb. I've found it more responsive on the motorway but whether it actually makes the pinto run 'better' I don't know. It's just a bit different. I've seen a few people say its not worth bothering with as the choke sizes aren't a lot different to a standard 32/36 but with a K&N and four branch it sounds quite nice under accelerationPaul G wrote:Is that a DGAS rather than a DGAV carb?
