Hi all,

saw a tip on one of them antique programs other day that i thought was pretty genius!

Tin Foil + Water rubbed on metal (or possibly just chrome)...removes rust! Who knew!? it's about the only useful thing i've contributed to this forum soo enjoy

They tried this technique again on a pair of chrome bumpers, and they came up a treat.
Hoever, I tried it on a small amount of rust that has appeared on the back of a chrome towel rail in the bathroom. A waste of time....
However, it would be interesting to hear if anybody else has successfully tried the tin foil trick.

Hi Andrew, haven't tried the tinfoil idea, but a top tip for the chrome radiator issue is to use Autosol chrome cleaner (its handier if your son used to own a classic mini & left his bumper cleaning stuff in the garage..)

That's great, thanks for that. I've got some Autosol so I'll give it a go.
It just goes to show, whatever the problem, somebody on this forum will have the answer!

I might try this on the chrome ring around a clock as I do use at the moment silver powder that does the job but it takes days to use as you build the layers ups
