Question about Granadas..
Question about Granadas..
..did any of the MK1s or MK2s come with a leather interior?

Re: Question about Granadas..
Ive always had a soft spot for the Mk2 Granadas especially. A beautifully solid, no nonsense car with build quality similar to the Mercedes S class of the time and not dissimilar styling.
I could never quite understand why Ford didnt offer a V8 version in the UK as the engineering already existed in the Ford LTD cars sold in Australia. It would have provided performance to beat the Rover SD1 and rival the Jaguar XJ12.

I couldn't agree more with the comments about the Mk2 Granada, I like them a lot too. I wouldn't turn down a Mk1 coupe either.

Alot of car compared to the equivalent Capri, but at this price I think it will struggle http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C872141
Stick with the Sierra I think......

We haven't yet seen the Granadas fetching silly money, and because of that I agree that it will struggle to sell, but you never know.

Re: Question about Granadas..
Think leather was also standard on the Ghia X 'Executive' which was only available as a saloon.
I had a 2.8i Ghia X Estate between 1992 -98, was a great towing barge, even 5-up and all the tools and spares, some more torque would have been nice though. I did once in the interests of research reach an indicated 95mph on the continent, ran straight as an arrow
In aircraft carrier 'Nimbus Grey'....
I did replace it with an E34 though, which I'm quite attached to, had it 17 years now, and still working hard after 324k miles....
I don't think Granada prices will go too silly, as it's not really an iconic car like the Capri and Escort and doesn't have a successful motorsport history like the Capri and Escort. I did once see a race prepared Mk2 Granada back in 1986 at Castle Coombe though !

Re: Question about Granadas..
Their motorsport successes were all on the banger track...plenty of wins there! Because of that, getting rare so prices will increase.

Re: Question about Granadas..
Haha yes Dave but a win at Wimbledon Dog Track doesn't have quite the same ring to it as the Escort winning the 'Monte Carlo Rally' or the RS2600's coming 1st, 2nd & 3rd at the '24 Heures de Spa Francorchamps'
But yes agree prices will go up, just won't see a £50k Granada anytime soon.

Re: Question about Granadas..
I've had Granadas of all 3 marks and they are superb cars but a major problem with having one as a classic car is that they, just like my Rover SD1, are just too damn big to go in a normal single garage and leave room around them to do work on them. That will limit their appeal to many people.

Reason I've been asking is one of the characters in my novel buys one (a champagne gold, X-reg ghia with leather interior) instead of getting a taxi home. He pays £8,000 for a 30,000 miler in Doncaster. Looks like I will have to nudge up the price a tad.

There's a lovely MK1 on the bay at the moment:

..wouldn't want an automatic though personally.
