Sounds like an additive might be the way to go initially anyway, keep life simple!

The DVLC history check is a great idea too, I'll keep that in mind, all I'm missing is a car to go and view! :crying:

In the process of getting the Haynes Manual through the magic of ebay, will keep an eye to for the Ford service manual too..

If your interested in the gold 3.0 Ghia one, PM me & i'll pass on the contact details of the seller as he is a mate of mine.

I'm off to a show very shortly but I'll be back this evening ;)

Many thanks, hope the show was good!

No problem, everyone has given you great sound advice so whatever car you choose I'm sure you will be more clued up than many.

Show was a top day out thanks & topped off with an unexpected excellent result ;)

Right well a Haynes Manual is winging its way to me, can't wait to get my hands on it.

This has cropped recently and I'd love to get some professional opinions from you fine people!!

I think I can see some rust bubbling in the engine bay already but I'd love to hear people's thoughts on it anyway..

Hi,
There is definitely rust bubbling from around the strut top reinforcement on the driver's side. I think it's fair to say that it's probably worse under the surface than it appears from the outside.
In saying that, the car is possibly still worth going to view to inspect thoroughly.
I'll stick my neck out and say that, in my opinion, the buy-it-now price seems high.

Cheers Andrew, was thinking the same. I suppose if the bubbles are that obvious there could be a lot more lurking underneath!
There seems to be a serious shortage of specials for sale from where I'm looking! :(

Good things come to those who wait....... :)
The rust on that Special could be nothing, or it could be the start of a whole heap of trouble. The only way to tell would be to thoroughly inspect the car in person.

Hello again all!

Still searching for the dream car!! :lowrider:

Quick question..

just wondering what to look out for to tell if a car has been damaged by not using a fuel additive if it hasn't been converted to run on unleaded.
Are there any obvious or even not so obvious signs that would point to damaged valves/seals or anything else?

Thanks in advance

Excuse the stupidity but how does one upload a photo on here?

Hi,
You need to upload them first to a photohosting site. There are plenty of free ones available on the internet, I use Flickr.
Once you have uploaded the photos, the sites provide some text to copy and paste onto forums. Your photos should then display in your post.

I look forward to seeing some photos.

Here you go -

This assumes you have a pic on your computer (for example on your desktop) already -

1. Go to https://postimages.org/ (you do not have to be a member or login)
2. Click Choose Images
3. Browse to the pic you wish to use and double click it (or click once and click Open)
4. Copy the Direct Link in the list (i.e. click the symbol on the right or highlight it and press Control-c)
5. Open up a new message window on here (as if to type your reply/new message, or whatever, as you normally would)
6. Type your message and when done click the Img button and then press Control-v (this will paste the link you previously copied in step 4)
7. Press Preview to see how it will look or Submit, and you're done.
