Wash bottle clean up ....

So after looking at Nicks so clean engine bay this weekend on line I thought I must start cleaning under there .I took my wash bottle off yes it's had over spray on it and also waxoyl from 30 years of use .
I found that I have a very little amount of surface rust as there seems to be quite a lot of pre drilled holes under there .

So rub down treated with good old rust treatment and left the wash bottle in a bucket with bleach in .

3 hours later and ready to paint the small area waited to dry , I started to clean the wash bottle I did find that using macleans freshmint toothpaste was a great Top Tip it got rid of the yellow look also it really did the trick .

Last coat of paint , waited to dry and just fitted the wash bottle back tonight .

That's one job of my list

Hi,
Great job! I might have to try the toothpaste trick if it produces results like that.

Andrew.

Brilliant job there Jason. Looks fantasic mate :applaud:

I soaked mine in a bucket of bleach for a week, but even at that did not come up perfect. Your tip of toothpaste is great. Nice one Jason :D

Cheers nick and you are the guru on clean engines

I did use the wife's sponge scrubber thing on the bottle as well also with 3 kids don't have the heart to tell the wife it was me who used all the toothpaste up .

I think you mean a scouring pad :) It comes to something when I can offer info from anything related to the kitchen!

Someone bought me one like that when I bought my house 12 years ago. It's still in the cupboard, in its box with the plastic wrapping still on it!

However I find the flame throwing device useful when I bent a couple of toothbrushes to clean inside both the washer and expansion bottles on my Laser.
