Actually you are right now that you mention it! We think of all Capri's being rare by default (because they are) but you certainly dont see as many MK2's compared to the others.
Wonder why that is?

As Mike says, they were prone to rotting away more than most it seems. Someone did tell me once that it was due to the manufacturing locations.

After October 1976 all Capris were made in Cologne soo, don't think it was the location but rather poor quality steel.
Tell me one 70s car that somehow didn't rust....

I thought that too, until I restored mine and found an old decayed factory sticker underneath the rear seat carpets that said it was built in Saarlous in Germany (not sure I spelled that correktlee though!). I would have kept it but it was so badly rotted it fell apart in my tender grasp.
My car isn't stupid.... it's MENTAL.

The bodyshells were made in Germany, but i think they were assembled in Saarlouis and Genk in Belgium and Cologne ofcourse, not sure though.

Hi Mike,
Sorry if my earlier post read as if I was having a go at your Dad, it was not intended to be that way.

No way Andrew! I never thought that, or read it that way. The rest of your post I agree with BTW

Mike
