Best customer service I have ever had (JBW exceptional service)

Post by Arya2.0S »

As some of you may know I recently bought a new set of rims for my 2.0 S.

The wheels i bought where Super lights and i got them from JBW (John Brown Wheels) on eBay.

The wheels arrived soon after i bought them, but I have only been able to fit them in the last week due to a calamity of errors from the people I bought tyres from, but thats a story thats already been shared.

The wheels are of fantastic quality, and came with valves and centre caps, however the centre caps they supplied would not fit over the inner hubs on my Capri.

I contacted them right away and explained the situation, I received a prompt response stating that they can supply me with a different set that should fit but will require some light modifications, free of charge.

They sent out the new caps on Monday and I received them today, and they will fit perfectly after ive modded them slightly.

Now onto the best part...

Since mounting new tyres on these rims ive had a horrible time getting the tyres balanced properly. I took them to one place to be balanced and three attempts later I was still getting a wobble through the steering wheel at high speeds. I got fed up and decided to try a different shop as my mechanic informed my the guy hadn't put the weights in the correct places, so I figured the guy who balanced them didnt really know what he was doing and chalked it up to inexperience.

I went to another shop (one my mechanic recommended) and told them the situation and they had a look for me. Turns out my mechanic was right, and they promptly re-balanced the wheels for me, however while they were removing the wheels the guy informed me that part of my problem could be because these aftermarket wheels dont have any spigot rings attached, and thus they are not sitting over the hubs securely and could be contributing to the wobble.

Since he just balanced the tyres himself he said if I still have a wobble this could be the issue.

Low and behold I still have a wobble, though it is significantly lessened now due to the wheels actually being balanced properly. Since I know for certain that all of the mechanical components are fine (as i did not have this wobble when my old 4-spokes were fitted, and everything has recently been fitted with brand new poly bushes and a new steering rack), this is the only variable left that hasn't been tested.

I contacted JBW again and informed them whats what, and they are sending me out a set of spigot rings free of charge as well!

They did mention they have never had to supply these to people they have sold wheels to with Escorts and Capris in the past, but those people just might not have said anything, but regardless of that these guys are coming up trumps once again!

Hopefully this spigot ring situation will fix my issue, failing that i haven't a clue, but still JBW have really impressed me with their service.

Usually you expect the worst, or at least a poor attitude or lack of willingness to do anything since most people stop giving a shit once they have your money but this couldn't be further from the truth with JBW, at least in my experience.

Highly, emphatically recommended!

Well it's nice to see someone praising a supplier's service, makes a change from bad service and loads of people unhappy.

:agree: Nice to see good feedback !
On the subject of spigot rings, I had exactly this problem on some wolf race alloys I bought years ago, one phone call later & they realised they'd forgotten to send them with the wheels. Sorted the issue instantly, so I imagine once fitted it'll be problem solved :goodluck:

Hi,
It's good to hear that JBW are great to deal with. From what you have said, you couldn't reasonably ask for any more from them.

Andrew.

I know! I'm really not used to getting such amazing service, especially when it comes to after care. Seems all those old horror stories i heard about these guys simply doesn't apply anymore. :woot:

Really glad you had such a good experience with them.

Maybe a List of all the approved Traders and a List with the ones to be wary of would be a great Idea for members to have as a reference.

I second this idea! I'll add Oponeo to the avoid like the plague list, lol.
