Capri half life

Post by Peter-S »

Driving the 2.0 back from the newsagent this morning it occurred to me that as it was first registered in April 1985 it is 32 years old this year and as I bought it in 2001 I have owned it for half its life. Not that startling and I know there are people on here that have had their Capri longer but then roughly calculated that to get to half life ownership on the 2.8 I will need to keep it another 22 years by which time I'll be over 76 which is a bit depressing :(

I went past the half-life in 2011. Come May I will have owned my 2.8i for 20 out of its 34 year life so far.
Which makes me feel old.

Time it came out of the garage and got itself an MOT!

If I own mine for as long again as I have already.....94. Better start taking care of myself...

Seriously, I stopped working out anything like that, it`s way too depressing.)

I bought my (now 32 yr old) Capri laser in 1992 so have owned it 25 years and passed the half life ages ago. It was probably still my daily then!
What I think about is the mileage, and if I'll ever get chance to wear it out.
I probably put 2-3000 on it per year, 30k currently on it's mildly tweaked 2.1, so another 10-15 years before it's on 60k, when it reaches 90k I'll be well and truly retired, and wonder if I'll still be alive to push it to 120k...... :?

I therefore surely need to drive it more. (I have just done London-Manchester and back in it this weekend so am working on that)
The current tyres will perish before they are worn out.
