Nurburgring in the 70s

Post by Major_Tom »

This has to be seen to be believed. My mouth was open all the way from beginning to end. They're wearing no helmets... or seatbelts!? It's absolutely insane. Several Capris too of course.. looks like a german RS2600 getting dinged up at one point but I might be corrected on that.

Heh, that corner always catches me out in the old driving simulators. At least i'll be prepared if i ever go to the real thing one day. Crazy how many flipped over...note how none of the Capris did though ;)

Great piece of film, especially the family in the beetle convertible with no seat belts :o . Cars may be made stronger & safer today but it looked like humans were made stronger in the 70's, they all got up & walked away. :applaud:

Hi,
Thanks for posting the link.
I love watching Nurburgring videos on YouTube, but I haven't seen this 70's one before. Fantastic!

Andrew.

Nice find. People were hard back in the 70's, and just didn't do fuss like today.

The very first guy for example, he just walks off like he's just got a flat tyre.

Haha, yes, and the guy in the red motor that gets thrown out of his vehicle after it rolls... and just gets up like he's slipped over outside the corner shop.

And yeah... that family in the beetle.. bet they didn't go round a second time.

Arya.. a MK1 Capri does end up on its roof at 3:35... think its a Capri anyway!
