FML
Re: FML
Was coming home after popping out to the garage to pick up some treats and the throttle cable snapped! I gave it some boot and suddenly "snap", foot went straight to the floor yet no power, still ticking over fine, but the pedal wasnt returning. Knew right away what it was, luckily had enough inertia to coast to a nearby lay by and popped the bonnet....."no, throttle linkage is fine at the carb" i thought, so nipped around to the foot well and had a feel and there it was, totally snapped.
Must have rusted away from moisture coming off my foot or something over time? You know, wet feet from a rainy day and such?
So, anyone know how to replace a throttle cable?
To be fair, ive had this car over 3 years and its never once seen the back of a breakdown truck so not too bad going.

Re: FML
Hi,
I had to look up the meaning of FML.....
By the way, I'm glad to hear that there is nothing major wrong with the car.
Andrew.

Bicycle rear brake cable works - Used one on mine for ages and kept a spare in the car.....

What a PIG of a job!
Took me literally all day because the replacement cable didn't really fit. I mean technically it did, but being an aftermarket replacement nothing was exactly the right size it needed to be, that added onto the fact that ive never done one of these in my life before, and i couldn't find a tutorial online and needless to say there was lots of effing a blinding, cutting and sanding and making things fit but its sorted now.
That little clip that holds the cable onto the end of the pedal is a James Blunt to get on with one hand i tell you!

Re: FML
A mate snapped his throttle cable on an old car of his. Forget what it was. However, he had a manual choke, so apparently he swapped the cables at the carb and drove home with a hand throttle. Not a great permanent fix but a good 'get you outta the shit' bodge
