Made I larf

Post by Dansta »

Just did a quick internet search for my Capri and apparently it's worth £21600. Next they'll be telling me gullible isn't in the dictionary.

https://cazana.com/uk/car/B25TNF

I suspect their valuation algorithm is a bit iffy. Bit creepy how it's got the advert I bought it from though........

It says for mine 394K - yet further down the same page it has the MOT history which shows 57272 last year.....
Rubbish site, presumably they get paid per hit, so they won`t be bothered?

Ford D366YDX - Car information

This 1986 Ford Capri Laser on numberplate D366 YDX was first registered on Friday 1st of August 1986 near Ipswich. It had been previously registered under . At an estimated 365,000 miles, this car has done an average number of miles for it's age. This car had 4 previous owners before the current keeper acquired it.

Apparently mine is worth £1000

Also I would be immensely surprised at 365k miles as I only bought it with 69k  Although more surprised at the fact that apparently it's been written off and stolen! :?

EDIT: Just went back on to show someone how crazy this site is, in the space of 3minutes my car's value has quadrupled

I'm very wary of sites like this, could be some sort of info gathering or spamming tool, you never know.

Ditto! £1250 but it had more rust holes than body work lol

If it's estimated, then surely it's an average number of miles? Wonder if it's laziness or lack of API that means they have to guess at the mileage rather than pull it from the DVLA data dump? It's less than a third of that anyway!!!

Hi,
This website does show the correct mileage at the last MOT for both my Toyota and Capri.
Why they show correct mileages for some cars and ridiculously inaccurate estimates for other cars is anybody's guess.

Hi,
I just found this on the Cazana site.....
https://cazana.com/uk/car/R883PEL
Judging by the valuation, it must be a security van with gold bullion in the back!
A double whammy for this site. Not only is the valuation spot on :sarcasmalert: , but according to the DVLA the car is a Mustang, not a Transit!

It's not far off with mine - estimated 100,000 miles against 95,500. Valuation reasonably in line with agreed value too. I found out something I did not know, which is that it was originally on a private plate and only acquired its B plate when sold at 4 years old (to the chap I am in contact with, who often e-mails asking how 'his' car that I am currently looking after for him is).

Hi Mike,
Nice to hear from you. Wow, it's scary what the internet knows....
It's no wonder folk with nefarious activities in mind find it an easy hunting ground.
