Bring back real sportsmen I say.
Interesting Davis :headscratch:

My Dad played Alex Higgins in an exhibition at his works club in the mid 70's and beat him as did several other club players...Saying that Higgins was pissed
The other time he was fantastic, and wiped the floor with everyone. I wasn't at either but Dad got me his autograph which I still have :)
Got some other big name players autographs too that also played exhibitions there in the 70's, inc Ray Reardon, Willie Thorne, Graham Miles and,Doug Mountjoy

I grew in to adulthood cheering on Alex, Jimmy Connors and Ian Botham. It made 1981 and 1982 a great time :D
There were still highs after but that was a peak not repeated for me.

Reminds me of that Spitting Image sketch - Steve Davis insisting to his manager that he needs a nickname, 'how about interesting'. That was so funny!

Wow, what a claim, to have played Higgins, excellent. And those autographs you have, superb Andy, something to cherish for sure.

Now that's what I'm talking about, those are proper sportsmen. They went for it, took risks, didn't have the fear to make their thoughts known, and had the talent to back it up.

Spend the day sat in front of an X-Box during the summer holidays or play on this all day long. I know which I'd choose.

Who remembers their Mum using one of these? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAko-tRbbw8

Used one again in the early 90's when we didn't have plumbing for washing machine.

I think we often forget how easy we have it now.

Mum had a single tub one with separate spin dryer. It had a mangle on the top of it.

I've still got the spin dryer and it works, not that I ever use it.

We never had one of those, but yes all the mod cons now make life a lot easier, but are we better off for it? In some instances certainly so but we are inundated now with products marketed in such a way that we feel we should have them, but don't really need them. I'm close to taking a step back from a lot of it.

Mobile phones are a pain, but pretty much rule everything we do now so just making life difficult for yourself without one :(
Nothing is made to last now either :?
My Auntie still has a Zanussi freezer that I had new in 1989, and it still works :)

Yes I can remember Mum dragging those out in to the kitchen for wash day. I can also remember Dad wedging a s/h one in to the boot of a Viva in the early 70s to replace one that broke. Wonder how secure that was!

I had a landlord client recently who told me that the fridge they left in the property for tenants she got in the 70s - he was then aggrieved when the tenants took it with them when they left as it had worked well for so long
