Carrying it around on some sack trucks isn't as cool though!

Back in the 80s, my best mate bought a '3D Superwoofer' radio cassette to take on a boys holiday to Spain. Cost him a week & a half's pay. Halfway through the holiday after a day of  on the beach, picking it up, he rushed across the busy main road back to the hotel & when we got to the other side, all he was left holding was the carrying handle  , to this day we still don't know where it went. :)

Hi,
An interesting coincidence is that very car used to be in the possession of John Hill.
No record of it with the DVLA though.

Hi Paul,
I simply searched for the registration on Google, other online search engines are available (but aren't anywhere near as good!).
It's an amazing coincidence that the car is, or was, at the CCI premises. I did wonder if John Hill knew of this car's history in motoring publications, if you'd call it that! After all, how would anyone know, unless they happened to own that particular book.

Good quick detective work! I thought that you might have just known it somehow, like you have memorised all Capri's or something :D

If often wondered why the owner of SLE 71R doesn't put the proper S pinstripes back on it. It would look so much better.

I do like it though, reminds me of my old 2.0s which was exactly the same, diamond white with vinyl roof, and I owned it at the same time Minder was on! As I used to buy and sell a few cars everyone used to call me Arthur!

Wish I knew where mine was now, last taxed 1987 so I expect it's in the car park in the sky!

Hi,
I agree, the stripes give a distinctive look to the S.
However, I believe that nobody reproduces them.

I like this thread! That nostalgic feeling. Some a bit before my time though.

Here are a few things from my childhood..

Back in the 80's me and my mates went to Spain for a chaps holiday. Halfway through we had been enjoying some beers on the beach. At the end of a days worth of beer we staggered to our feet to make the short journey across the busy road to our hotel. Halfway across the road I tripped over a bleedin '3D Superwoofer radio cassette that some drunken knob in front of me had disconnected it from its handle. Almost broke my flipping neck but I ended up with a great cassette player. I still have it to this day

Thanks for the offer Rob, but I have got used to 'my' superwoofer minus the handle over the years and lets face it "hands free" is all the fashion

Hmmm...Don't suppose your mate still has the original box and instructions by any chance mate :)

Anyone remember Club 18 - 30 holidays? I went on one to San Antonio in Ibiza in 1985 (I think, was so pissed that I don't remember much!)

Live aid was on, met some nice lasses from Bristol, renamed the holiday eighteen dirty, and stubbed my toe on some batteries from a Subwoofer 3D radio cassette that some drunken knob left in the middle of the local zebra crossing!
