I got a new battery but then no the bulb has gone. Now, where would I get one of them?

Hi Nick,
I think you've bought the torch key at a good price.
When you get it cut, make sure they put the pointy end in the machine. :D .

Hi,
Check the dimensions of this one against the Ford item, with a bit of luck they'll be the same.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-ASTR ... noapp=true

Failing that, the battery and bulb unit can be purchased as a whole.

Andrew.

Hi,

I got my TX Torch Key cut today...was a bit worried in case it did not "go to plan" as its not exactly a standard "off the shelf" key that can just be replaced to do it again, but all went fine...phew !

Image20161021_210147 by nicholas bowler, on Flickr

I tried it in the Capri tonight and it fits just fine :)

Any thoughts on whether the Turkish torch key blanks are fake? From what I know the key should have raised 'dimples' on the Ford emblem side, to match those on the the torch/battery fitting - the Turkish key blank does not have these 'dimples'

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. :welcome:
You never know, the Turkish keys might have been made over there, and might have slight variations in design when compared to the genuine UK versions.
However, my suspicion is that they are probably not genuine.

Thanks Andrew

Been lookin' at the forum for a while but have only recently got around to doing anything about it

Hmmmm I guess these things are relatively easy to copy (if that is indeed the case). I wonder whether anybody on here has purchased one and can confirm either way

Regards

Many companies make key blanks, so long as they are compatible it's fine. A bit like how you go into the motor factor and ask for an EFL90 oil filter and they translate that to the right stock code for whichever brand of filters they carry in stock.

Hi,
A fair point. The Turkish key will work exactly as intended, and as such represents decent value for money.
I assumed the poster, ukfpv, was specifically looking for a key that was definitely a genuine item for authenticity.

The key that I bought last year has raised 'dimples' on both sides. I got mine off an ebay seller based in Blighty :) When I get in from work tonight if I think I will look up to see if hes still selling.

Hi,
That would be the chap mentioned in the original post, nield44.
He doesn't currently have any torch keys listed on Ebay.
Judging by the cost of 2x NOS TX keys (without torch), I dread to think how much the torch keys would be anyway.

I'm glad I bought mine when I did!

Correct Andrew, I'm endeavouring to get a 'genuine' Ford torch key blank. Thanks guys - I have approached the neild eBay seller, as well as Retro Ford, but they're both currently out of stock - hopefully though I've just agreed to purchase a key from a fello 280 friend of mine so one would hope my problem is now solved

Back to the Turkey seller, I do think they're fake, so although on a par with the genuine item (when in stock) finance wise, a fake is still a fake, especially when prominently being sold as a genuine item

The listing for the torch key has ended. I presume it's been sold.
I've just noticed that it's the same seller that is selling the ropey 280 and the seats mentioned in another thread.
