On another note, do you also remember The Tomahawk Bicycle too...a scaled down "copy" of The Chopper without the famous shift gear lever. Many a kid was disappointed Christmas day to "end up" with one of these rather than the bigger more "powerful" Chopper

That's the one I had! I wasn't tall enough for the Chopper
They also did the Chipper which was smaller again.
I didn't realise they were still making these in 1980? I thought we'd moved onto BMX by then. It would have been early 70's when I got my Tomahawk, about the same time ABBA won the Eurovision. Mind you I was more of a Slade fan back then
Hi Neil,
Size isn't everything
The last frames were made October 1980 but Hubs carried on into 1982.
Black was the colour they brought in around 1979 to help revive the range.
Mine also has a Gold Transfer around the Gear Selector, as it was around the time of JPS wiping the board Formula 1.....
Although Gold Colour Decals were also planned it never happened so only a certain number of bikes had this colour surround
Abba were ok but Slade, Mud, Quo the Sweet.....I haven't progressed much
Andy

Did anyone else on here peg a piece of card to the back of the frame, that poked through the spokes. As you rode along it made a great sound
Or was it just me

Those were the days where you you played outside and needed a pair of Clarke's Commando's with a compass in the heel to find your way home and a Snorkel Parka in the winter to keep you warm

Then when you got home you probably had a Power Cut

I was an adult in the late `70s and it wasn`t bad at all; if you had a reasonably secure job it was a good time to live. You could get most of the things you needed, I bet the suicide/alcoholism rates were lower then for sure. And, as said, you had decent music!
