Very relieved to say they were, phew :woot:
What have I started here? I bet everyone on the forum has gone out to their garages to check their switches!
G4242 wrote:How sad am I.
No sadder than me, if its any consolation! :) At least now we can relax, safe in the knowledge that our switch order is as Henry intended!

All the best,
Andrew.

Thank goodness mine are in the right place. I might have been driven mad otherwise....

That`s just the sort of attitude that`s brought this country to it`s knees - bloody anarchist!

Mike,
You had to check, otherwise it definitely would have niggled! You might possibly even have been ostracised from the Cheshire club!

How can you sleep at night knowing the switches are in a different order? :)

Correct - one or two bound to notice! It was all indoor work with no heavy lifting though - I have got photos of the interior so I could check without putting down my beer and going out to the car :)

I usually push these out from the back to avoid any damage using the screwdriver prising method, is that how we all do it?

Hi,
That's how I do it. It's a shame previous owners weren't so careful.

I think the Haynes shows you to prise them out with the screwdriver (in a rag if I remember correctly)!

Yes, that is how it is shown in my Haynes manual too. I'll keep doing it my way..........

I've always pushed them from the back also, just wondered if anyone else had another method.

I have prised one out `cos it was sticking once, BUT, I prised at each side NOT against the bottom as in Haynes (I think?) as I think this gave squarer leverage with less chance of slipping. Plus 2 layers of masking tape. If it hadn`t worked I`d have done from the back, but it`s so much dismantling...

My problem is I`m absolutely obsessed with noises; rattles creaks, vibrations - they do my head in! I`m always afraid if I take the dash panels off, when I put it back there`ll be something that`s moved and is now touching something else and causing an untraceable `tap...tap..tap.... And ^THAT is why I prised it out....

I know what you mean Steve, these old cars are not shy with their rattles and squeaks, especially the plastics, and especially in hot weather. Your previous tip using foam/sticky backed foam/draught excluder type stuff (or similar) is a good one. I have used rubber washers in places, where plastics are screwed together which also works wonders.

Steve,
Prising the switch out from the front will have loosened some of the clips which will almost certainly cause the switch to rattle, creak AND vibrate.

Just teasing! :)

Who would have thought that those four little switches would generate so much discussion?
