Hi,
Sorry to hear about your mate's Capri. Somebody must have seen something, the car is pretty distinctive.
I hope he gets it back and the thieves get what they deserve.
All the best,
Andrew.

There is a small amount of justice in this though.

Re: STOLEN FORD CAPRI V8
I know. I've had a Few taken in the mid 90s. It was much much worse back then, there were burnt out fords in most lay bys sometimes.
I get asked at most petrol pumps if mines an XR4x4 and have had a few notes left on it. I must admit I come home from work sometimes wondering if its still gona be there..... I'd just feel a bit smug if they took it though to find out its a 1600 cvh and not a 2.9
Sadly to be honest the way the prices have been hiked by fools willing to pay it it stands to reason you're gona see more of the same in years to come.

Yes, it's inevitable that as prices rise the cars will become more desireable to lowlives.Terra-Kotta wrote:sadly to be honest the way the prices have been hiked by fools willing to pay it it stands to reason you're gona see more of the same in years to come.

Not the sort of car you nick and drive around, like Andrew said very distintive and very loved too i am sure...but i will keep an eye anyway in case it shows up in North London...
Good luck and hope you find it soon mate.....
Suppose its time i get an alarm system installed on B112 AAT. So many reports of capris been stolen these days. All i got at moment is a handbrake lock which aint much, but to be honest i dont ever park and leave the capri any more...except at car shows where you "hope" it is safe there...
Last time i did leave it and regretted it believe it or not was a lovely little yorkshire village called Marsten. Left it parked up while me and missus went up onto the moors one afternoon. Just as i returned to car park i saw a chap beside car. New something was not right so took off towards him. He saw me and scooted off into the trees. Got to capri to find he rear window had been smashed in. Ran off after the scumbag but he had pegged it...wanker !! Was probably a good thing i did not catch him up...my Doc Martens would def have been put to good use and i would have been eating porridge for the next year !!!

Re: STOLEN FORD CAPRI V8
Remember the feeling of coming back to loads of wires hanging out my door thinking WTF. They ripped out the CD player and took half the dash loom with it. Blood all over the seats. Must have proper gashed their hand open lol.

Re: STOLEN FORD CAPRI V8
Hi,
Perhaps I've been fortunate. I've only ever had one stereo stolen and the thief didn't make any mess whatsoever. No smashed locks, no mangled dash, just neatly snipped wires. Those were the days that when you bought a second-hand stereo from 'the man in the pub' you could tell how many times it had been stolen by how short the remainder of the wires were!
Another time I had my car broken into and nothing was taken. That time they made a mess of both door locks and door panels. It cost me £900 to repair, and that was years ago.
Andrew.

Re: STOLEN FORD CAPRI V8
Coming back to my RS1600i.... Why's my bonnet slightly open??? Oh it's unlocked... Why's the interior light not come on.... Then finally putting my key into an ignition lock that wasn't there in the dark I think I must have disturbed them on the way out from the pub without realising.
To be honest car crime now is nothing like it used to be.
Try nailing down an XR or RS in early to mid 90s. That was a nightmare.

Re: STOLEN FORD CAPRI V8
Birmingham seems a real hot spot for classic theft at the moment. About two thirds of ALL classic minis stolen last year were within a fifteen mile radius of Central Brum. Loads of other classics going too, it must be a gang that is doing it as its too organised to be random idiots. But where do they go? A lot of owners know their cars inside out but nothing seems to ever seems to turn up from them and there are a LOT of people in the classi world keeping an eye out on eBay for nicked stuff.

Re: STOLEN FORD CAPRI V8
Yep know the feeling. Came out of the house we were renting and noticed the bonnet was popped on the '4i and then that the drivers door was slightly ajar.... Still didn't register what had happened.... Then I looked inside and saw the remains of the ignition wiring!
The police caught the thieving scum by the way, although I suspect they were more interested in them as they had carried out a series of violent robberies! Both got a good few years. Hopefully they're getting torn a new one in the showers as we speak!

What about andy Kerr's mk1 escort cosworth. Found two years later less than a mile from where it was taken. Pretty well stripped and even chopped the bulkhead out of it.

Anyone seen the guy in the news who had his e type stolen decades ago and it was found recently. He plans to restore it.
