I think by the time you describe a wheel as your 7th favourite, it`s pretty much saying `I don`t really like these much.....`

Sorry Dan but the laser wheel is not a RS alloy wheel, it is a ford wheel. The RS 4 spoke alloys for the Capri mk3 are either 7x13 or7.5x13 not 6x13 and have the magic RS stamped on them unlike the laser wheel, that's why they are worth 6 times as much as laser alloys.

My list would be
1. Capri 280 alloys.
2. 7.5x13 RS alloys.
3. 7x13 RS alloys.
4. Pepperpots.
5. RS 7 spokes.
6. Ghia/S alloys
7. Laser alloys

I was waiting for your comment on that one Andrew...

I love my 7x13 (not genuine RS!) machined 4-spokes wheels...but I would say this I suppose :)

Image

BUT... to be quite honest with you I really like most of the Capri wheels... The first time I seen pepperpots, on a lovely black 2.8i for example when I was a teenager, I thought...WOW!.. they still have the same effect today if you are lucky to see them nowadays :)

Don't really think there are many wheels I dislike too much on the capri at all. Different models cry out for different spec wheels I suppose...even if they not genuine capri wheels...

Seen these wheels on a lovely 2.8i at Ford Fair for example...they looked great.

Image

I think if it were not for the great shape of the Capri in the first place these wheels would maybe not look as fantastic as they already do...just contradicted myself here ;)

A bit like what came first, the chicken or the egg...is it the WHEELS making the capri look good... OR is it the CAPRI making the wheels look good :)

All the best chaps...I "wheely" tired now  (laughing at my own jokes again !)

Well, I hate to disappoint people..........

I've just noticed the wheel nuts on the green car in the photo. The pepperpots look much better with the black wheel nuts, so that it looks like there are twelve holes, not just the eight outer ones. Just like on this photo I've found................

Sorry the photo is so dark, the car is parked in the garage.

Agreed, beautiful wheels and look gorgeous against the lacquer red paint.

Groan............

Dan,
If it was my list, I would have the JPS gold 4 spokes on it as well. I think that they look fantastic actually on the JPS. They would look terrible on any other Capri though, even another black one.

:agree:

Your wheels do look superb Andrew. Pepperpots at their very best...and like you said with the black nuts they do give the impression of 12 holes mate...but hey they already had 12 holes otherwise you would not be able to fit them ;)

All the best

Pepperpot = Wolfrace Sonic.

That's the proper name. The best alloy, if only they were a bit bigger so you weren't stuck with 13" tyres!

Just to add a footnote, according to the Jeremy Walton book, the wheels are "Ford SVE reworked Wolfrace Sonic wheels (centres thickened)".

My list (as far as originals go):

1: 4 spoke

That is all, the rest are ugly. Although the ronal type ones and the GL steels aren't too bad to be fair

Have to big up the idea of slot mags as mentioned by blitzy.

Does anyone know if the slot mags size used on the Reliant Scimitar are appropriate offset/PCD for Capri? There is a reasonable looking set on ebay from a Scimitar at the moment.

By the way - nice class 43/HST there in early Midland Mainline livery.

1: The Capri 280 !5" 7 Spoke is the best wheel for any capri, nothing beats it.  An absolute rotter looks a million dollars with them on.

2: The RS 4 spoke is a good looking wheel as long as its mint and clean! Comes 4th.
Image

3: my least favourite is the Ghia alloy and optional "S" alloys. Quite frankly, an awful tacky design, a pig to clean, why would you bother?! :headscratch:
Image

4: I do like a set of pepper pots. I rank these my 3rd fave.
Image

4: GL steel wheels are good for moving cars around the body shop!!!
Image

5: Another hideous wheel for me is the rostyle wheel. Looks alright if you think you own Grease Lightning!..
Image

6: My second favourite wheel the 13" RS 7 spoke.
Image

But that's the great part of capri ownership, the shear amount of different wheels and personal tastes. Its great! I also don't like the de-bumpered look.

It's all down to the number of spokes. Less than 4 looks weird, more than 5 can look a bit too modern. Therefore, 5 is the perfect number:
