A capri mate of mine brought his stunning capri round today

Post by dan the capri fan »

One of my capri mates came round my house today to show me his capri again as hes now living local to me and i hadnt seen it in a year where i first met him at the gaydon old ford rally. So here it is an absolutely beautiful 1979 3.0 Ghia automatic in oyster gold with just 26,000 on the clock genuine as you can tell its in mint condition and is fully original never been messed with. this car is a time warp piece. it was fully ziebarted from new and has the optional second wing mirror. it even originally came from a ford dealer near to me in birmingham chambers of sutton coldfield.

He popped round as he had it moted today which it passed with no advisorys and he was passing my house so he stopped to show us the motor as he said he would. also i would love to buy this car but my mate bought it for £12,000 so its out of my price range and im happy with one at the moment. but maybe one day ill own a capri as good as this.

anyway here she is what a beauty:

im glad you's all like the car and that bloke under the motorbike isnt asleep even though it looks like it in the picture lol. hes working on it his names christopher hackit known around the area as "hackit" hes always buying bikes to work on and do up and sell on he gets most of them from a local bike scrap yard. he doesn't do that good of a job on fixing them up as theres a lot of bodging going on. he rides round with no licence, tax or mot's on any of the bikes hes has. sometimes if i need a tool i haven't got i borrow one off him and if he doesn't have one he borrows one off me. hes also crazy because sometimes he bolts a 50cc engine from a moped to a pedal bike and goes up and down the road on it. :)

I did like my old 3.0 ghia. BMW668V. Like the way the 3.0 autos free rev real fast and make the car rock. No big heavy flywheel like the manual. A lighter torque converter instead.

i did a vehicle enquiry on your old 3.0 ghia glyn and it hasn't been taxed since 1997. so was that when you owned it or when someone else did. :)

Sold in 1996 to a ginger northern guy. He wasn't that interested in it until I blasted down bypass in it and he screamed "il have it il fucking have it!" A few month after I saw the car and he'd driven up the back of a montego outside equity and law in high Wycombe. Then I met his mate a few years after who said he stuck it in his garage under a sheet.

yes liam the dashboard does let it down at bit because as of recently i found out walnut dashboards arent an original feature on the Ghia capri's. i thought they were as the Ghia was the luxurious trim option in the day. but i think only the tickford turbo capri's had them as standard. so this car is 99% original when it left the factory :D

heres a pic of it when i first met him at the old ford rally at gaydon last year.

Hi,
I'm partial to a nice Walnut dash on the right car. It wouldn't fit in right with the sportier 2.8 image though.

Yeah Walnut dashes are fine, but it looks like it's been stuck on with a bit of double sided tape on top of the old fascia.
