Reminds me of a friends mother that won a TT when they first came out. Not as good as she first thought, she only won it for a week!!! She had to give it back after a week and they charged her for minor scratch. Nice scam.

I must admit it does whiff a bit, they could get decent money for that car all day long if it is as clean as it looks - but nah, we'll just give it away for FB 'likes'.

Yeah right! That's got to be a joke. Should be interesting to see if they see it thru with it and actually give out the name of the winner. I truly doubt that!

Hi,
It's hard to see where the dealer is going to make their money back with this, considering the car was up for nearly £8K.
The only thing I can think of is that the winner have to be involved in lots of publicity.
Either that or the dealer is going to get the car sign written with their name all over it!
Another observation is that they have had a facebook page since 2010 and only have 13,000 likes. By the time they get up to 25,000 everyone will have forgotten about the free car.
Andrew.

Ha ha.....well....... Nothing! I just came across it on t'interweb somewhere and thought it would make an interesting avatar - I can't quite tell whether or not they're Capri or Fiesta flavour to be honest but I like it (and the Metro on top lol)peers.dupp wrote:Mike, are they pepperpots I see at the bottom of your new profile photo? I wonder if they pick someone they know or maybe an employee as the winner, we wouldnt know any different, then they dont really give the car away at all.
The guy who owns the business could pull his aunties or uncles name out the hat, theres a big publicity thing where said aunti or uncle supposedly receives the car but they give it back of course afterwards

The scam would be a bit obvious when the car is back on the forecourt for sale the following day!
I've got to say that the possibility of a fixed result did cross my mind too! After all, the car was for sale for £7500, and that's a large prize for a small business to give away, even if they have had some publicity from the stunt.
I wonder if the rules and regulations concerning competitions with free entry are as strict as competitions where tickets have to be purchased?
I think they previously gave a car away in a competition where the first prize was a Vauxhall Astra.....second prize was two Vauxhall Astras!

The car could dissapear into a lock up garage somewhere for a good while after the competition until the heat dies down, or maybe its the owners car and he has no intention of selling it at all, Theres so many ways it could be done.
