Getting a bit out of hand now
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOS-LIGHT-BLU ... 418113021f
(Are they even genuine - look exactly the same as some I got years ago; very good copies but not Ford...)
Just hope it doesn`t increase the likelyhood of someone nicking mine?

Re: badges
Definitely getting out of hand. I picked up 1980s Ford badge at the autojumble of the Tatton Show last weekend. Like new, £20. The only obvious difference between mine and the ebay one is the latter comes in a box nobody will ever see or know exists.
Generally speaking, I have found ebay to be far more expensive than the 3 ways of getting bits I have used - Martin (and Martin aka Bug to be fair), a breaker's yard in Liverpool, local club. I did buy a radiator slam panel from ebay before I realised it was a bit of a pricey outlet, but on reflection it was cheaper than any I have seen since on there and only needed a bit of paint.

Ah, but they don`t - the box is in the photo to give an impression of authenticity;MS Injection wrote:the latter comes in a box nobody will ever see or know exists.
They come loose `cos they`re knock off, I have some, identical, they`re about 2-3mm thicker than the real item. (In `06 when I got them they were £4....)box in the picture is not included they come loose

Hadn't read that far re: boxes not included. One to steer clear of I reckon.stevemarl wrote:Ah, but they don`t - the box is in the photo to give an impression of authenticity;MS Injection wrote:the latter comes in a box nobody will ever see or know exists. They come loose `cos they`re knock off, I have some, identical, they`re about 2-3mm thicker than the real item. Re: badges
What worries me is that if people start thinking they`re worth a few quid, next thing they`ll be disappearing off your/our tailgates. Something else for me to get paranoid about...

Hi,
If what you are saying is correct, it explains how so many NOS light blue badges find their way onto the bay. They regularly sell for £50 each.
Andrew.

I was there too, for the weekend. Did you show your car? Where was it if so as I must have seen it.MS Injection wrote:I picked up 1980s Ford badge at the autojumble of the Tatton Show last weekend.

Re: badges
Hi Paul. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take the car. It was still on axle stands - what had began as a quick replacement of leaf springs and shocks kinda turned into strip down, clean, treat hidden rust, paint, waxoyl, seal, rebuild, remove and repair every little bubble, new bumper etc. It was nearly ready but it threw a leaf shackle that I couldn't replace until Monday.
I'm going to have it at Tatton on Cheshire Capri Club stand in August though. There are also a few things coming up e.g. Lymm Historic Transport Day on 29th June I might take it to.
Did you show your car? I stalked the whole area for a good few hours (even the car park!) looking for Capris so I might have seen it.

Yes, I did take mine, it was close by to the Cheshire Capri guys who I also spent a little time with. I hope to go back in August also.

Re: badges
I seem to recall seeing a red 2L on the stand next to CCC, or at least very near it on the same side as the CCC stand. Parked next to an Escort? Lovely Capri if it was yours.

Re: badges
Not quite, mine was on the opposite side to the Cheshire club, if you are walking past the Cheshire stand with it on your left, perhaps fifity yards up on the right, was the club stand where I was. There was a Ford club next door, plenty of Escorts, Sierra, etc.

I would be happy to have these badges on my car, as they look very good. Just not at those prices......

I saw that auction too (in fact I was watching it) and the final sale price was a little higher than I expected. Understatement of the year!
