cracked windscreen.

Post by jamezz666 »

howdy chaps, a lovely copper flew past me at a wopping speed estimated at a 100mph and flicked a big F*ck off stone at my windscreen and spider chipped it.
Well the problem i have is, i phoned auto glass and they told me, if the chip is bigger than a pound coin, then it's a new windscreen, but the chip isn't, it's just the spider legs that run off that is, so do you reckon they will still inject the screen or replace it? as that's where the stitches in my pockets will come apart.

I thought most insurance provided free windscreen cover nowadays? I would imagine the size refers to the total damaged area; if you had a chip the size of a pound coin it`d be a hole surely?

Depends on policy, but I think it's pretty normal to have windscreen cover included but with a smaller (£50 for example) excess.

Personally, I would leave it to the professional repairers.

Insurance or find someone localish with a screen in stock. I've got one but I'm near Liverpool. I' sure Martin at CapriGear will have a few but I'm not good at geography

Over here we often get a "glass extension (inc headlights ) " free with full cover, and I have just finished giving my cracked screen a few good thumps to make sure its a replacement not a repair :D
Sometimes I talk to myself ... and we both have a good laugh

 Good plan! Why settle for a repair when a replacement screen is free?

Nice one. Just make sure you don't mention it on any public forums related to your car or anything.
