Re: 2.8i John Player Special
I got a cracker from the tutor at college the other week, he came out with "they did a 1.0 capri" so I said Iv never heard off them, and I got back there we're only a few made... But this point I was just annoyed with all the bullshit...
Ohh and another thing... When I first got my capri my dad picked me up in it one night from my mates house, bloke walking past said that's a nice car, how much do you want for it.. So my dad said it's not mine it's his.. Then the prick said he's to young to have one of these! I mean what gives him the fucking right to say whether I'm to young the cunt! Wanker....
Anyway glad I could rant this!

Re: 2.8i John Player Special
They did do a 975cc version......... It was the 1.3 with number 2 HT lead taken out!
On another note, I don't know if anyone else has managed this feat of driving skill yet; I sure as hell haven't met anyone who "Used to own a 2.4 super duper turbo injected ghia special" who could do this, but I think I've cracked it!
I managed to drive all the way from Bath, to Bridport AND BACK!! (A total of 134 miles) on A and B roads, with bends, hills and curves, and I didn't end up in a ditch, facing backwards, on my side or involved in any other sort of mishap! Plus it was raining!
"Aaaaaand what is so special about that???" you say.
I done it all without the help of concrete, paving slabs, gym weights or any other heavy object in the boot!
I just thought I'd let everyone know as it has become apparent to me that this was F**KING IMPOSSIBLE to everyone who "Owned" a Capri 20 years ago!
P.S On another note, Why do people Asterix (*) out swear words? I mean by f**king, you all read this as fucking! Or p**sing, You read pissing. Just an observation to ponder....

Far too many people have forgotten the joy of just going out to drive!

Bloody hell - £35 with postage !!! I just checked on Corgi`s website, and they still list the Brooklands at £19.99; I`m sure I only paid £16 - 18 for my `jam-butty` a couple of years ago.

It's not available any more and was a limited edition. I guess that's why it fetches high prices now.

Grey 2.0S
White Brooklands
and an X-Pack 3.0
I didn't argue, he's providing me with a lot of work

Brilliant! I must keep my eyes peeled for such an animal! I must admit whilst it is nice when people come and talk to you about your car it's bloody funny at times! I still get the impression though when people speak to me about my car, and it's been mentioned here already that 'you're too young to know about these cars'! I don't look my age which does not help, but why should age be relevant!?

Re: 2.8i John Player Special
Hi,
When I'm out and about hardly anyone talks to me about my Capri.
Perhaps it's because I just have the basic injection not the 3.1 twin turbo Brooklands ghia in white that they had in their youth.
All the best,
Andrew.

I'm pleased to say that I managed to buy one, at last. Great price too, considering the last couple I tried went for over £40.stevemarl wrote:Bloody hell - £35 with postage !!! Had the best one the other day...
Fella in the pub going on about how every Capri was rear wheel drive except the 1.6 Laser, all the Lasers were front wheel drive.
No chance of him changing his mind, he was adamant!

All the best,
