So you won't be able to claim any tax back, if you sell the car?
Re: Road tax disc to be scrapped
Yes - but you`ll lose the remainder of that month, AND - the new owner will have to pay for the WHOLE month AGAIN. Win win for the DVLA I`d say!!!

Hi,
It's nothing more than a stealth increase in road tax, in effect.
I wonder how many second hand cars get sold each year? That will be a massive increase in revenue.
All the best,
Andrew.
I haven't heard this, but if true, this is the most ridiculous piece of legislation I have ever heard.r2vdh wrote:From What I understood is that the vehicle Tax is going to be non transferable when you sell or buy a vehicle. Thats going to cause a little bit of havoc

I know its the mirror and should be taken with a pinch of salt but sometimes they speak the truth.

Hi,
I wasn't doubting you, as I can well believe anything can happen with this government.
When you think that every sale of a taxed vehicle will result in an extra month's worth of revenue, as Steve detailed in his post, that is a lot of extra income for the treasury.
On another note, with the computerised databases and absence of tax discs, there is no reason why the tax cannot be purchased on a daily or weekly basis as and when it is required. It will never happen though.
All the best,
Andrew.
