gutted at banger racing
I just found out about a banger meeting which is all capris and cortinas and was gutted to hear that about 66 capris are gonna be there up to now, including mk 1, 2 and 3, watching that would bring me to tears
Re: gutted at banger racing
Where's the meeting taking place dude??
Re: gutted at banger racing
I blame the government
Since I got a capri I've said "over the moon" a lot more than ever before.

Makes you sick doesn't it? All the rovers and vauxhalls sitting aroud in breakers yards, and they have to go and ruin classic fords. CCI should be on this case.

Re: gutted at banger racing
Whoever is using them to banger race must be paying a fair price to get the cars in the first place, I'm always struggling for enough cars to keep my stock levels up. Most of the cars that are ideal for breaking are way overpriced from a spares point of view so maybe the banger boys are getting those.
Personally, I don't understand the whole banger thing. Any car whatever the condition can always yield some parts, quite often the worst loking cars can have some real gems but once the cars are destroyed then it's all gone.
As for CCI getting involved - how? get them to buy up every car that comes up for breaking in order to keep them away from the banger track. What then, he has a whole stack of cars/spares that no one will buy as the majority of people on here and other forums won't deal with the guy so why would he want to get involved.
I don't like to see the cars end up this way but if certain people want to buy the cars and do this then its up to them.

Here's a link to this -

I guess the only way it will stop is if hardly anyone goes and they don't make any money. Maybe we should turn up and protest, like hunt saboteurs do.

True true, I was just venting. It's a shame to think some of those 66+ cars will have been in good nick, maybe even still road going.Caprigear wrote:As for CCI getting involved - how? get them to buy up every car that comes up for breaking in order to keep them away from the banger track. Whats worse still is some of those cars will be stolen. there was a spate of it in northamptonshore. peoples pride and joy was being stolen for banger racing. if my car ever wound up on a track i would end up inside for a very very long time

Re: gutted at banger racing
We need a very rich Capri fan, with the wealth of say, Richard Branson or Alan Sugar. Who loves them so much that they will buy any forgotten ones and store them safely, saved for the future. They don't even have to be that rich really. Keep doing the lottery.

I think CCi have broken a lot more than 180 odd in the name of profit.rich_jc wrote:Makes you sick doesn't it? All the rovers and vauxhalls sitting aroud in breakers yards, and they have to go and ruin classic fords. CCI should be on this case.

Hoping to be at this event. If none of you have been to real bangers before its great to watch. Better than watching modern crap fall appart with a tap.

Re: gutted at banger racing
It's not all bad, really.
Think about it....... They are usually shells which will never pass another MOT, or have been uber damaged in a accident......
Also They free up interiors and other parts that aren't needed for banger racing. In my eyes it's a last hurrrah for the cars..... Plus it just goes to show how well build the cars were, that's why they last far longer than the others on the banger track!

Far too many people have forgotten the joy of just going out to drive!

If you want to stop it you just need a dodgy looking guy turn up to the event and an anonymous tip off of a terror alert.
I'm game, someone get me a false beard and a brief case.
Ill close that shit down myself

Must still be painful to watch from a capri point of view.
