Bomber Run/ Capri meet April 21st 2012

Post by Peter-S »

I mentioned this to a few of you last month and some will have seen pictures of previous events on here or in the CCI mag or on another forum.
I'm not organising it and I'm not badgering anyone to go (thank god for that I hear you say!) but I hope to drag the old girl (the car not the mrs) along.
So, April 21st 2012, East Kirkby airfield, Lincs from around 9 a.m. with the aim of looking around a cracking museum and getting your cars pic in front of Just Jane, a Lancaster bomber that has live engines and taxis and may one day return to the air.
Entrance should be in the region of £5 and so far there are about 40 cars attending. We get to park inside the museum but we are of course at the mercy of the weather for part of the event. There is a naafi, large hangar and other bits to keep dry in.
Suggest anyone who is interested puts there name up on this thread.

I'm going!
Francis told me he has already decided that the chosen charity will be MacMillan Nurses, in memory of Julie.
The boys and I will go there as a bit of a pilgrimage as it was only this year that she realised her dream and got to sit in the pilot's seat of the Lanc.
Can't believe it's over a month already!
Would love to see loads of you there. it'll be a hard thing for us to do and the more moral support we get the better we'll feel!

I'd imagine Simon will be a definate, what after saying how much he'd like to have his Capri photographed in front of a plane! :xd:

I can't promise I'd attend as much as I'd like to, and if I do it won't be in a Capri....

Bug, I can understand your mixed emotions, and my thoughts will be with you even if I'm not.

This years event review is in the current CCI mag for anyone interested.

Only just told the Mrs about this and she reckons she might come with me. Nearly fell over, she avoids the car as much as possible but she has got a few months to change her mind

Hi quick update the date has has to move to the following week its now 21st April 2012

Working on some sponsorship and a decent donation to our 'chosen charity' ;) in return for letting a 'similar named insurance company' to get in on some action :poke:
