Lost my best friend today
Lost my best friend today
This morning (Saturday 2nd July) my darling wife Julie finally lost her battle with cancer.
She fought it right to the end, to the point where she was too animated to even consider coming home to us. She finally found peace and slipped away in the QE Hospital, Kings Lynn at 9.30 in the morning, at the age of only 45.
Those who knew her will testify that Julie crammed more into 45 years than most people do in double that time. She touched many lives and improved them all. She had that ability to talk to anyone from the queen to a beggar on the street, treat them all as equals and leave every one of them feeling the better for knowing her.
The boys and I will sorely miss her. She would have made an awesome grandmother but sadly didn't get that long. Most of the local primary school kids in the village school she worked at as a dinner lady saw her as their 2nd mother.
Life is exceedingly cruel but I take comfort in the fact that I was lucky enough to be chosen by this extraordinary lady and spent 17 amazing years in her company. You really should have met her!
The funeral will be at Northwold Church on a date to be decided. Anyone who knew her would be more than welcome there. She'd love to see a Capri or two there I know.

Sorry to hear that. At least the suffering is now over for her, and you just need to remember all the good time you had and the fact you were blessed to have known her.

My thoughts are with you and the boys and I hope you can take some amount of comfort from the chance to prepare yourselves. We're all heading there someday but it is so unfair that some have to go earlier than they should.
Re: Lost my best friend today
Dear Bug, how brave you and your family are. You wrote a lovely letter about your wife and i'm sure she knew how much her family care about her.
It's really not fair that this has happened to such a lady. She'll never be forgotten and always be missed.
My thoughts are with you all.

Dear Martin,
my thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys. This is terribly sad and I feel for all of you. A tragic loss at too early an age.
I hope you can remember as many of the good times as possible.
Take care and be strong. The lads will need their Da more than ever now and you will need them too.
Johnna.

Re: Lost my best friend today
Bug, we don't know each other, never met, but I've been knocking about on this forum for the last 5 years or so, I think you may have helped me out with one or two of my noob-ish questions over the years. Just wanted to say how truly sorry I am for your loss.
To lose someone you care for at any age is terrible, but to lose them at such a young age is nothing short of tragic. She sounds like a wonderful lady and while nothing can fill the gap she left, do your best to remember the good times and be strong for your kids. And don't forget, while you were lucky to have her, she was also lucky to have someone who loves her as much as you obviously do.
All the best
Neil
