That is the most outrageous quote I've had so far, I thought you specialised in classic car insurance? This is an insulting amount to quote, the car is only worth £1000 and I'm a 23 year old graduate with a very good career, I'm not a "boy racer" ever tried to race in a Capri? i sure as hell wouldn't be making a claim cause I'd have gone sideways into a tree and most likely died! I was referred to you by a friend that had a Capri insured by you at my age and he only paid £15 per month, this was only 2 years ago.

A Capri is almost more important to me than my girlfriend, the last thing I'm going to do is put myself into a situation where it is at greater risk than any other driver would do with more experience and a more valuable car. I suggest you take a look at what you have quoted me and have a second thought. just to help you along, my budget is £1500.

i got a pretty similar quote from them for a 2.0 and im 25, there pretty daft with prices. my brother has a mx5 insured through them and they put his premium up £500 for a performance exhaust
is your capri your only car? if so they wont give you classic car insurance unless you have another car insured..... at least thats what they told me

mine was insured in january with them for around £190 but they did ask for details about my main car

damnit... i guess the ony other thing i can do is to put my mate down as the keeper and main driver and to add me onto it. he's already agreed to be a named driver on my policy (once i get it) which brings down premiums by around £400 with admiral but still paying around £1500, if he's the main holder then it should be even cheaper.

In defence of Adrian Flux, I have my 2.8i, my 2.0 Laser (main car!) and my lad's Mk2 1.6GL all insured with them.
Each one is on a classic policy and each is between £100 - £120.

But then, I'm 46 and have many years no claims (plus I get a discount for being in CCI)

Horses for courses I s'pose, but don't slag them off to everyone just because you don't fall into the bracket they specialise in.
They can afford to offer lower prices to us 'veterans' purely because they don't deal quite so much with the, shall we say, more volatile, corner of the market.
There are other companies out there who do, so I'd suggest looking at them, then coming back to Flux when you've moved yourself into their bracket.
If all companies dealt with the whole range of customers then there would be no companies out there offering deals to particular types of owners and we may as well give up shopping around.

i just expected them to be at least slightly cheaper, the best i have so far is admiral and that renges from between £1700 and £1900 depending on what i tell them my job title is. i know flux CAN be very cheap it's just a bit of a large amount to ask for. i can honestly see why a lot of people drive without insurance.

anyone heard of B4Dboy insurance? they have the right idea... sort of... if you've spent a shed load of money "pimping" your car then you're less likely to let something bad to happen to it.
it's not all bad news, i can insure a mk1 ford KA for just under £1100, i should move to waddington like i was planning on doing earlier in the year, it'd only cost me about £600 to insure a 2.8 right after passing my test, alas, i live in chav central, dewsbury, where you're not classed as normal unless your sister is your mother and all your kids have converted to alcoholism or been stuck under a bed for a month.

I did a quote online with them before for a 2.0 and got a quote from them for about £2k

I rang them up once i bought my car and got quoted £509 (roughly) for my 2.8i Special

I just renewed with sureterm direct for £187 fully comp. 25, no NCD, 5k miles, live in merseyside, but last year on the same 2.0 laser I paid £1200

I pay £50 a month fully comp with Tesco, but then... I work for them and get a staff discount.

I drive a 2.0 Laser.
Before... I had a Peugeot 206 and I was paying £98 a month fully comp. It was a 1.4

Im sure some people are victimised though, there are lots of variables.

Certain postcodes, how often the car turns up on insurance databases for accidents, number of young people insured on cars of the same type, your gender (of course), age, fuel types....

Everything they can think of, they will charge extra for.

Also, Id steer clear of Hastings Direct and Hastings Essential if I were you. Nasty experiences with them, like a £300 cancellation fee and hidden costs. Tossers.

Mind you, all the insurance companies are really. Unless you own a hideously expensive car and have a crash that isnt your fault, youre never going to get anywhere near the money you pay out back.

I had my 2.8i with flux and paid about £450 last year with 6 years no cliams, went to renew and id went up abit, Shopped around and now with elephant and pay £357 fully comp. Not to bad i think, I have a 1.4 escort van and flux were the cheapest around for that. Cheaper by around £200!

Insurance varies a hell of a lot for no obvious reason sometimes.
My daily is just due for renewal and Aviva who were really good last year have upped the premium £200 so I got some comparisons. Some common companies, including the likes of Tesco and Sainsbury, won't quote, presumably, because I want business use with it. Of the othe companies quotes range from just under £300 to around £1300!

Try Lancaster, they've been brilliant for me. I'm 26 and was paying £23 a month for a 1.6 Laser, then it caught fire and I claimed the full agreed value, so the premium for my new car has doubled, but is still pretty good.
