An idea for 2011 maybe
What about a laser page karting event.
Something like this:
http://www.garlandsleisure.co.uk/gokarting.html
Not too expensive, find a campsite nearby, arrive Friday night or Saturday morning, go karting and then back for a barbie and a few beers, home Sunday
Any thoughts?

Check out the circuit info at this place http://www.karting.cc/
and it's cheaper than Garlands. Built on an old WW2 airfield where they flew Lancasters. Pub across the roads is called the Jug & Bottle after Lancaster HW-J that was based there at RAF Waltham http://100squadron.com/1939-1945.html
In the late seventies the local kids used to run their 50cc bikes on the old tarmac until they were road legal
Also an indoor circuit here and they're doing christmas parties! http://www.kartingworldgrimsby.co.uk/the-venue/news Pub & travel lodge close by and a Bush Tyres depot with a dynamic 'on-car' wheel balancer for a smooth drive home.

Puggy and a few others from VOECC go over in June to the Capri Club Noord Holland show which is a good weekend party, let's get more people together for that!

What about beach buggies? That would rock.
Clay pigeon shooting is also a lot of fun if anyone knows anywhere good to go.
