Watching Wheeler Dealers last night

Post by Peter-S »

they tarted up a Jensen Interceptor. Reminded me how much I like them and it's hard to beat 7.2 litres of V8 up front :) God knows what the fuel economy is like though!

Also anyone else ever noticed how full of shit wheeler dealers is? Was watching one a while back saying they had to clean up the wanky old brakes (which looked fucked) Next shot in the background you can see new discs pads and calipers none of which was declared in the "budget" then they made no profit, Good job they aint doing that shite for real

Like Top Gear it is fluff, light entertainment, chewing gum for the eyes! No thanks Mrs Doyle, I'm watching TV!

If it were that easy, we'd all be doing it!

Incidentally, what does it take to train as an MOT tester? Time, cost, commitment etc...

The bloke I take mine to is always busy, but is really happy!

Almost every Scimitar I've seen has been of the "garden variety"... meaning it is in someone's garden and doesn't look like it can remember what tarmac feels like.

I think its alright certainly better than that chop shop, now that is crap and completely stage managed. You just have to take it with a pinch of salt is all ofcourse you couldnt actually do it properly look at the money he's making on most of em few hundred quid here and there and hes not even paying ed lol Ed is pretty good though its mike whos useless seems to know nought for an 'expert' and undersells alot of the cars after edds put hours into it. But its still a good program most of the cars are quiet interesting atleast.

Ever noticed how some of the mechanical advice they give is also wrong....

As for being an MOT tester, 2 years motor trade experience and an MOT station to put you forward for it, you then either have to pass a mechanical multiple choice test or have a relevant qualification, sit a 3 day course on MOT standards then perform a test in front of an examiner, its really not that hard, and yup you dont even have to be a mechanic to apply, as long as you;ve got the 2 years experience (even as a valeter etc.) you can do it. Rumour has it VOSA prefer non mechanics to be testers
