Milton Keynes 2010 Trophies

Post by standard_Man »

At the end of the last Milton Keynes Show, Clare (Sta1ker) and I felt that because the Milton Keynes show had become such an important date for the Laser Page Diary we would like to give something Back.

So on behalf of Laser page Clare and I said we would like to sponsor the Milton Keynes Trophies. We felt that we would like to do a bit more than turn up and Pitch.

I think as the Laser Page is so spread out organising our Own show would be a problem so we have almost Adopted Carry on Camping as the Show to be at.

So if any would like to join us in sponsoring the trophies please donate using the usual donate button.

The cost of the trophies is c£120 and we have committed to donating some or all of this personally.

Obviously if no one else wishes to contribute then this will be purely down to myself and Clare.

It would be nice though if some of the other regulars would like to donate.

As part of this we would like to organise one or two Laser Page specific Trophies either only for Laser Page members or a Trophy that embodies the spirit of the Laser Page.

I dunno ... Glyn's part of MK ... ;)

But no, i know there's nothing I can win (this year! ), but just wanna put something back into the community.

That, and CoC is the only show I ever won a trophy at!!!

P.S. The beemer wouldn't win "Best BMW", even if it was the only BMW there ... Standard Man & Stalker can testify to the fact it's a nail ... just a monsterously powerful and comfortable one ... :xd:

Hi Standard man,I will donate in a couple of days when i go to work cos the online security is solid there as opposed to my laptop at home ,anyway whilst i,m on if we,re sponsoring do we get a say? ie on the categories?
I say this because I go to a lot of shows and talk to a lot of owners whose cars are daily users. Now mines a daily user and its good so yes i would have a chance, but theres many others as well who use them every day for whatever reason,ie; finances forbid having a runabout,in my case logistics of parking are impractical, and i,ve no garage,my car has lived outdoors for 12 years..So its about giving guys something to strive for having spent hours in the wet on their back ,and this year the snow, trying to keep them up to spec as well as keeping them running cos you have to go to work in something.
Anyway point is, a daily user is bound to have the odd mark on it ,$&it happens, but when you turn up at shows and you see cars turn up on trailers that havent seen the light of day since last summer its a bit of a downer.
OK I,m a bit jealous but fair play to the concours guys I know they put in a lot of time money and effort, what i,m saying is let everyone have a chance within the standard you,re at .We(Capri owners)are "duty bound" so to speak to "Keep it alive" but this has to apply from concours to bangers

Hey Nick.
You popped along last year and you might have gathered its not really a 'car show' as much as an enthusiasts get together. Sure there's some nice cars there but nearly all of them get used even if only as weekend cars. There's no real rivet polishers or anything like that although Simon always gets out the bumper black
Beaksters black laser one a best daily once so you must be in with a good shout!

Hi Peter ,how you doin. Yeah dont get me wrong ,the main reason for going is to socialise with all you good people, compare ,ask questions, fix probs, put the world to rights, drink heavily ect I just wanted to suggest categorization (is that a word?)that puts everyone in the frame as an incentive to keep crawling underneath in all weathers, icy spanners, cut fingers ect ,to make it seem all worthwhile and to carry on ,even if its simply call a top ten "mentioned in despatches" so to speak.
I dont want to start a debate,The MK do is one of my favourites cos its down to earth and personal and tends to lean towards the ordinary guy who does it for the luuurve. Its one of the few meets which i make a point of booking the day off for,cos i work Sundays.
See you out there Nick M

I know what you mean, Daily driver is always a difficult category.

Yes I do propose we have at least two trophies that we have a say in.

Suggestions please.

1. Spirit of the Laser Page
2. Laser Page Car of the Year, A members Car Voted by the Members only !

I could support these two categories, assuming the second related to a car actually at the show.
