How to post pictures on the forum

Post by Beakster »

Here's a guide on how to make a photograph appear in your post.

The forum itself does not have the facility to host pictures so you are unable to upload directly. You will therefore need to make use of a picture hosting site to link images to. We have previously suggested a photobucket account but this organisation has now imposed a charge for 'third party' hosting of this nature.
There are several other free sites out there that can be used instead. A Flickr account for example works fine. Upload pictures there and using the 'share' tab at the bottom right of the screen when your picture is open copy the BB code in to your post on this forum and the picture will embed.

OR:

This assumes you have a pic on your computer (for example on your desktop) already -

1. Go to https://postimages.org/ (you do not have to be a member or login)
2. Click Choose Images
3. Browse to the pic you wish to use and double click it (or click once and click Open)
4. Copy the Direct Link in the list (i.e. click the symbol on the right or highlight it and press Control-c)
5. Open up a new message window on here (as if to type your reply/new message, or whatever, as you normally would)
6. Type your message and when done click the Img button and then press Control-v (this will paste the link you previously copied in step 4)
7. Press Preview to see how it will look or Submit, and you're done.

Most image hosting sites will work in a similar way.

Top right corner if you click 'profile' then next to your name it will say 'edit profile' then on the left hand side click 'edit avatar' and you can upload an image

Here you go!
https://compressjpeg.com/

Upload the picture, compress it and should make it small enough to use. If not, compress it again!

:deadhorse:
That site is actually quite good for downsizing (got it down from 5.3 meg to 87k ) cheers for that D366Y.

However after an hour of swearing, I’ve knocked it on the head as it keeps saying it’s got too many pixels

I think this forum the way it’s set up isn’t helpful at all, after all that time faffing around downsizing i must say I would have thought that would have been it....
