"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

dont have your address though! i can see the point of the switchable maps, but im not sure if im going to use them, as im not sure what id use it for.

i guess a power/ ragging the snot out of it map, and then one for the motorway or something? i think the switchable maps would be more useful for fueling & ignition combined, rather than just ignition?

what do you think?Image

Switchable maps for me is the difference between 97 and 95RON fuel... I can run with slightly more advance on 97 and it'll be great to be able to switch to another more suitable map for 95RON.Image

now theres an idea!

Post by Supercharged Nat »

switchable for fuel octane ratings... very good idea there!

actually thats bloody brilliant, i think il be trying that one out. is it difficult to do?, i mean loading two maps upto the mjl? ive not tried connecting mine to the laptop yet as my connector lead hasnt arrived yet.

i guess it would be good for tuning to, swapping between two different maps and seeing which ones the best? i guess i could have one blank/ std map and the one im working on. then when i go to a R&R they could map the blank one and i could compare the to on the road instantly..

food for thought i guess.Image

current is probably less than an amp

length, only one to find out, you need to position everything in the engine bay and the cabin, then figure roughly how long it all wants to be.Image

yup... that's exactly what it's for. My 2.1 hates 95RON fuel... I've had to retard it all over the map... with 97 I can advance it back up, so being able to switch between the 2 is great. Also, as you say, you could have a "safe" map and a "development" map... or one setup for economy...

Programming the 2 maps is easy... simply throw the switch and upload... depending on the switch position, you'll have access to one or other of the maps... you can't access both together, which is a nice safety thing I guess.Image
