Post NSFW or kids or peeps easily offended...
What a bastard fecking bastard arse of a fecking job!!!!!
I so feel like giving up at the moment. Is restoring a car difficult, or am I just fecking inept with spoons for hands and a sponge for a brain???
THE hardest fecking job I've ever had to fecking do on these fecking old cars...........
FECKING BONNET CABLE AND LATCH!!!!!!
2 Fecking hours, another scratch in my paint job, and a cable that still doesn't actually open the frigging bonnet. The first hour was just trying to get the bastard spring into position!! Then another hour fecking about feeding the cable through the bulkhead, clamping in place, shutting bonnet, 10 mins to open again with fingers, unclamping, unfeeding, feeding it THROUGH the hole in the dash, then bulkhead, clamping, handle in place, handle out of place, unclamping, moving sheath to fit little bastard clip onto metal tab 2 inches above it, clamp it all back together, shut bonnet, IT STILL DONT FECKING WORK!
I've had enough now. I want to make this car right, but it'll look like a bloody rat by the time I'm done. 2 hours for a cable, how the hell am I supposed to get the car on the road for COC.
Bastard.

I think you will find that bonnet release and catch have a 4 spanner rating and shouldn't be attempted by spongebrains.
For those without conversion charts,
Spanner rating *4 = krypton factor *9

..it's okay Rich - you miss spelled all your swear words by mistake so it's okay.
I didn't manage to fix my cable in the end - I'm content to just operate it from the outside now. Stupid un-adjustable thing.

Dont know of your mechanical abilities Rich...but i do know about restoring a car (certainly a capri) and for the mechanical wannabies its a no no!...no matter how many books you read etc...
Unless you want to bodge and throw it together then yes owt's possible...but after spending good money on resprays and new bits and bobs then you gotta do it right eh!...
Many people have undertaken Capri resto's with good intentions but little knowledge and "ability/know-how" only to fall short and end up short changed by having to "flog-on" their un-finished project...happens week in week out!...
Hope that dont happen to you even tho you dont like my white over-riders or side moulding's..

As long as yours weren't painted from a halfords spray tin like that shell, I'll let you off
Apart from the leccy bits, there's nothing I'm doing to my car that I haven't either done in reverse in taking my old car apart, or have just done before. I'm fine with mechanicals, I just stumbled a bit with the electrics. I'm big enough to know that if I do something I'm not sure about, I get someone to look over it who does. I'll certainly be there with a fine tooth comb when she's on the MOT ramp.
I feel a little more positive now as I've got the bonnet release working proper. In a nutshell, rad on, carb on, zorst on, get a spark (hmmmmm), tank in, fuel and brake pipes, heater box, dash and trimmings, passenger seat, windows (I know a guy...), and bumpers, and that should be it!
In theory, I'll have the first 3, hopefully 4 of those things done tomorrow. A couple more sunny weekends of graft and she should resemble something of a car.
In theory...

Re: Post NSFW or kids or peeps easily offended...
I almost attempted a bonnet release cable change once....but I don't know what happened because I had a fiddle withg the release lever for about 20 seconds- did literally nothing to it- and it's worked ever since........
