And I now have lots of them!
£70 on fleabay, all 6 point sockets too, so no rounding off old nuts.
Spanners aren't amazing, but the ratchets are 72 teeth ones. Good buy in my opinion.

Not bad Rich I suppose. I've spent more than that on a ratchet in the past! And all it came with was a box! Oh, and a life time guarantee aswell.
But seriously, I've thought about this in the past. I used to buy Snap-On, Britool and other expensive stuff, but that was when I made a living from using it 6 days a week. It's good gear, but a bit OTT for use at home on a car in my opinion. In any case, Teng, among others, sell excellent tools at a far more sensible price. Since the end of my HGV days, if I've needed anything I've usually bought Draper, which is cheap enough and more than up to the kind of jobs I generally do these days.
If I do work on anything heavy mind, the Snap-On comes back out. Too many grazed, bruised and broken knuckles over the years!!!!

Nowt wrong with snap-off tools......
im currently using a new brand, Run-over has been on the market for a while now, generally ok but the run-over torches aint so good.
re tools
i am a hgv mechanic too(over 15 years)
have been off due to long tearm illness(4 yrs)
hope to be going back soon
most of my tool kit is snap-on or mac tools
i have a few"chocolate" spanners that if i cant get on to any thing they get modded by the gas axe or grinder
have always found its worth buying kit that comes with a liftime cover.
broke 4 fingers once when a not so good spanner "let go"
you dont need snap on/mac tools for light work, but they come in to their own when heavy stuff is involved.

Yeah, got about...
US$45K worth of hand tools, Snap-on, Mac,
Matco, SK-Wayne, and some cheap stuff too,
the cheap stuff is for modifying, being a
mechanic in real life kinda sucks, but not
as bad as when I killed rats for a living...

I mainly got it for all the sockets...
Being six pointers, they are less likely to round off any old nuts, and less likely to round themselves off.
As I said, the ratchets are good though. My old draper 3/8 ratchet is getting iffy, but I use my halfords pro 1/2 as a hammer and it still works fine.
Britool have bought out some lovely kits, and not too badly priced. Im after a good set of ratchet spanners now, with the swivel ends on. Halfords kit looks ok.
