Post by rousecapri »

i have had 2(the ones that i remember most)

1.was trying to undo a fuel filter bolt on an old ford cargo 7.5 tonner(had not been used for years) it was only an 8mm bolt i had to double spanner it as it was kin tight. the spanner slipped i punched the block,3 or 4 broken fingers(cant remember how many)and messed up knuckles lots of blood and lots of swearing.

2.was refitting the main bearing caps in a scania 113 (11 litre straight 6 truck engine) putting one of the caps in place (holding it with one hand reaching for the bolts with the other)my hand holding the cap slipped, down came the cap(weighing about 2kg)smack on the side of my face(these caps have lots of straight edges on them)i had a trip to the hospitial with a 3 inch piece of skin cut from the left side of my face(you could see my jaw bone)lots of stiches and lots of blood again.best bit when i got back from the hospital i had to carry on with the engine rebuild.

I managed to...

I managed to compress two discs in my lower back taking the running gear out of an Anglia. Decided it was a good idea to drop the crossmembers, undo the strut tops and lift the car up. Did my back dragging the lot out.

Didn't realise for a while and it was only when I got to the point I could hardly walk that I went to the doctors.

Within a few months I was on the operating table having my spine welded up. Apparently I should have been in a wheelchair when the specialist saw my MRI scan. I was working on HGVs at the time...

My back is permanently knackered now.

Angle grinder

Post by Beakster »

I was working on my car with the angle grinder one day. I was underneath it cutting out some rust from the floor, so I was holding the angle grinder above my face.

As it was winter my hands were very cold and so were my feet. I'd put some thermal socks on and they were quite tight. When I took the socks off they left a mark around my ankle.Image

His T-shirts are classed as marquees!!! LOL!!!

Seriously mate, leccy tools continue on where air tools just stop, yet in schools we still use leccy tools...

I had a cutting disk let go on the grinder when I was repairing the lower rear 3/4 panel last year.

With no warning it was stuck in my chest. Luckily it was at a right angle to my rib cage when it struck.

Got a scar from that one. Not to mention a week after Steve Urwin died of a similar accident! Was expecting blood to pour out after seeing it embedded in my tee shirt!

Worst was whilst I was stud welding overhead, I had molten metal get behind my watch, welding itself to the strap. 6 weeks of bandages for that burn. The metal is still welded to that strap!

Bit of a welding mis-hap....

I was doing some welding on a lorry (why are they so dangerous to work on?) and got a fairly large blob of molten metal inside my boot. Lots of smoke, even more swearing, and 12 weeks off work. Nice.
