It's actually a MK2 Tom. Looks to have a MK3 bonnet though. I agree, it's well cool.

and a Mk3 tailgate/spoiler! the wings look a bit more mk3 ish to me too, they come down a bit more at the front? But then how did they get the mk2 x-pack bulges on there? maybe I'm mistaken.JC|2 LITRE LASER AUTOMATIC|STRATOS SILVER

very nice indeed, but i couldnt cope with the mk2 front end, just looks too dopey for me
It's surely a mk3 with mk2 bits...
mk2 lights.. actually that's about it and mk2 xpack, which fits a mk3 no probs.

Re: Easy way to tell....
I believe there was a kit around at some point in the very distant past (unsurprisingly no demand for it now!) which you could buy to 'mk3' and mk2. It included headlights, bonnet, bumpers etc. It may be that this car had one of those kits at some point?

The reason that car looks SOOO like a MkIII
Is because the MkIII is basically a MKII with a new nose , the rest of the chassis is the same .

Like that, then you'll love these...
The car was very nice, a bit "old man" though. He turned up on the sunday about an hour before judging saying "ive not brought it to be judged", yeah right!

I'll take your word Tom as you've seen the car and I haven't but that must be a late registered mk2 then as I thought 'S' reg was the change over year between 2 & 3.
