Mustang smash pics

Post by Beakster »

Yo,

Those of you at DICC will have seen my mate Duncan's nice Mustang. Sadly he was involved in a smash the other day. A car pulled out infront of him bashing in the front, then someone in the oncoming traffic panicked when they saw the smash and drove into his rear.

He's trying to sort out the insurance now, but they want to write it off and wont pay the agreed valuation. :(

Daisy.. don't look..

..you;ll cry.

That looks bloody expensive. Does it still drive? I'd be tempted just to matt black it and have fun of course :) but I bet he's heartbroken.

Yeah, he managed to drive it home ok. The other 2 cars involved had to be trailered though as their crumple zones had all collapsed.Image

Ouch, that's gotta hurt, I can imagine they would be going home on a trailer though looking at how that engine bay was put together. That's a real shame, beautiful car. I seem to remember his saying he was thinking of selling it relatively soon though so if the insurance can be convinced to pay up (I hate insurance companies) at least he can move on. The rear arch one looks like it might be repairable without too much trouble? I don't know.

Real shame though, was a beautiful car (I think I made that fairly clear when I was drunk lol), but at least no one was hurt.

give my regrets to duncan, and tell him that its not the end of the world, or the end of the mustang, as itll take time, but unless its majorly damages the chassis, as he knows full well, its all replaceable.

if the insurers are being wankers, do what i did when my cap was smashed up, play the card of "if theyre not going to give you enough money to either replace it, or to fix it, then it CANNOT be a fair payout" thats what i did and it all worked out for me in the end.

or if not, tell him series 2 camaro's are still cheap :)

Like ive always said, there's nothing nice about a car crash.

As he was saying at DICC, at least you can still buy panels and bits for mustangs, if that were a capri then id expect to see it on the for sale board for bits.

Give the insurers hell!

Beakster, can you offer deepest condolences to Duncan and bid him the best of luck dealing with the insurance. We hat a chat about his cars at DICC so I know how much he's into them. What's the next car on his list?

Except by the look of it I wish I'd seen it pre-smash. Looks a lovely car, tell your mate I'm gutted for him. I hope it all has a happy ending.

Hey,

Duncan's had a look in on the forum and says thanks to everyone for their consolidations. The insurance company were on the phone today and have given a verbal agreement to repair it, but have said the bodyshop can't do it until January. He's trying to see what else they can do, and told them if it's going to take until January then need to give him a hire car, which might hurry them up.

Cheers

I don't know, Andy. '67 or '68 Mustangs aren't
built anywhere near as well as Capris are. But
the Mustangs cost a butt load more to restore.

Here in the US, good Capris are very hard to come by,
semi-decent Mustangs of that vintage can be had for
the same money as near showroom Capris. That one
I posted over on the main page is a good example of
what I'm talking about. An equivalent Mustang would
be at least US$30K...
