I have always....

Post by 340truck »

...believed that this forum has no need for moderators, and I still do. The "local pub" feeling comes from the very friendly and helpful people that come here - I have made many friends who have helped me out way beyond what is normal. Some I've met and some not, but I hope I've helped a few people out myself.
Unfortunately there is always one isn't there? Conor (computershack) your posts ARE offensive, I think the amount of people who replied made that clear to you. I personally have tried to indicate it to you in a subtle way, but your most recent reply I consider a direct insult to me, and that I cannot accept. It is derogatory and VERY offensive to call someone "spineless", no matter how you try to veil it. I look forward to the day we meet, when I assure you we will have a full discussion face to face about this. In the meantime, I suggest you keep your attitude to yourself, and only post when you have something constructive and useful to say. Perhaps this will mean you don't post at all - I certainly don't have a problem with that, in fact if you want to cancel your subscription I will personally send Mark the £5 to refund to you. Is that enough "spine"?

I dont think it was aimed at you Dave...

Though I think Conor has squandered a good chance to apologise and come out looking the better person here.

Far worse has been said between peoples on here, and a few posts later it was all sorted.

Conor, I think you need to think about what you are saying more before you do, and just because you don't think something is offensive, doesn't mean anyone else wont.

Haven't you heard the saying "If you've got nothing nice to say..."

Oh I think...

...it was aimed at me, and if not me it was aimed at someone, and imho that can't be laughed off anymore. Insults, direct or veiled are not welcome here.

i normally try to stay out of these posts as no good comes of them, but i will agree with you there, conor has made some hurtful remarks in the past and has done again. I also like the old pub feel of this forum, and think a moderator may kill the old pub feel but then again, maybe it is what we needImage

The old pub feel

Post by STEVE SB »

imho will be lost with a moderator.
One thing that happens in an old pub is the arguments which get sorted out with out the old bill (moderator) turning up in force mob ahnded and dragging all concered down the nick (kicking them of the site).
Haven't there been lengthy discutions about the other site doing just that.
I don't think we need it.
But when it is raised that a comment is offensive, by more than one person then the offender should in all fairness appoligise too the offendee.

... I really like Dave, a smashing bloke and I think we have swapped emails upon efi builds. We were polite, respectful and friendly throughout. I look forward to meeting Dave one day.

Conor and I have 'crossed swords' here before and the discussions settled down. Unlike a lot of people I have actually met Conor and chatted to him. He's a personable and chatty soul.

I am sure that Conor does not wish to upset people, but he has. The folly in doing so is that fewer and fewer people then respond to posts- we all like a bit of help from time to time.

That is how the 'old pub' moderates itself...

repeat offenders should just have to put up with all of us telling them how much of a prat their making of themselves etc...

theres always guna be the odd person with the inability prevent their own fingers from mashing the keyboard before thinking...

we all know the score with said individual/s so lets just get on with being capri enthuisats (im not saying that its fair for people to be talked to in that way but theres not a whole lot you can do about it on a forum without stooping to their level, so just brush it off and rise above it).

happy capri-ing!Image

"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.
